I finally managed to hit the character limit in my subject heading. What's with the long episode titles, TPTB?

Tin Man, TBFTGOG, Politics, and WTSG )

The End of Season One.

I've been kinda bored various places recently, and have just happened to have access to the things needed to create stick figure comics.

So, how about that downtime, eh?

Three more episodes! I'm having SO much fun with this guys, I can't even. Today as I was watching Solitudes I was amazed at how into it I was... I forgot how great the latter half of first season really is.

Here we go: Cor-ai, Enigma, and Solitudes )

Title: Keeping Secrets Doesn't Work if You Use Real Names
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Rating: PG
Category: Fluffy Angst
Pairing/Characters: Sam/Vala.
Summary: Vala's got a new hobby, but it could end up getting SG-1 in trouble.
Notes: Okay, so everyone and their mothers had vampires on the brain, and I have an entire AU in my head where the Goa'uld are literal, space-faring vampires. But then I realized that the story I really wanted to tell was a little different. So if you want the Vampiric Goa'uld AU, you're going to have to ask Vala instead. This is set before Don't Ask, Don't Tell bit the dust.

I told you, I can't take it. )

I had very good intentions, after last time, to limit myself to three episodes at a time, because that last entry kind of got away from me. Oh, well.

Here are various thoughts about Brief Candle, Thor's Hammer, The Torment of Tantalus, and Bloodlines )
holdouttrout: (Teal'c squee)
I've been awfully busy, both at work and at home, so unfortunately lj has once again slipped down my priority list below things like "Get food from the grocery store" and "Call my friend on her birthday." It's almost enough to make one miss being sick--I have started to think being sick is a little like being on vacation--with the added bonus of being able to cancel all one's plans and have people feel sorry for you instead of be irritated.

Of course, the running nose, fatigue, sore throat, headaches, and utter boredom convince me that being healthy is much more desirable.

First things first: the SG-1 rewatch continues! I have put off watching the next episode until I can do these recaps, so Brief Candle has had to wait. (Oh, darn.)

Broca Divide, The First Commandment, Cold Lazarus, and The Nox )

In other not-quite-life news, I've been playing Just Dance 2 a lot, and apparently, I walk like an Egyptian pretty well. Still working on everything else.

Oh! I got my hair cut--to just at my shoulders, and it's really cute and out of my way when I carry bags and I love it.

I'm also back to working out regularly. Yay!

That's all for this round. Hopefully I'll have fic of some kind or another to post soon.
holdouttrout: (team_shoes)
That's right, people. I'm watching it from the beginning, and I'm not going to skip a single ep. No, not even that one. NOT EVEN FAMILY TIES.

So there.

I can hear some of you groaning that I will obviously have nothing interesting in my journal for the next forever. Obviously you paid attention during the Sanctuary rewatch. *g* Thankfully, that's what lj-cut is for.

Children of the Gods, The Enemy Within, and Emancipation )

Exhibit One: VOTE SAMANTHA CARTER - #TIGERBLOOD EDITION.

Seriously, guys, Sam is up against Scully in this fandom cage match thing... and Sam's losing by a pretty good margin. So, if your consciences so direct you, you should VOTE FOR SAM.

My apologies for the multiple entries, but I told [livejournal.com profile] annerbhp to berate me if I hadn't posted something by today, and I have to meet the deadline!

Title: Dear SGC Advisor...
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] aurora_novarum & [livejournal.com profile] holdouttrout
Category: Humor; Gen; Classic Team Era
Word Count: 1600

Summary: With everything SG teams and staff encounter, who can they turn to and get some honest, practical advice?

Holdouttrout's Author Note: This is what happens when I make comments about random things to people with the time and inclination to write fic... and I like it. :-) I made some comment to [livejournal.com profile] aurora_novarum one time, and she started writing this fic. Then, as revenge, she shoved it my way. She'll try to take the blame, but she definitely deserves most of the credit.

Exorcism: The Sam/Jack Telepathy Fic I Wasn't Meant to Write

For this year's Day of Indulgence, I decided to tackle a project I'd been working on for a while already: a Sam/Jack telepathy fic that wasn't about how awesome a psychic bond would be, but also about how annoying sharing a mind would be, especially since Sam and Jack are very different people.

It is, alas, with great regret that I must admit defeat. For now.

I will, however, share what I have, which is, essentially, all the setup and none of the climax or resolution. Therefore, you get Sam and Jack being adorable, without the angst that was supposed to come after!

(It's also fairly long, for all that there isn't much there.)

The telepathy fic that isn't )

Title: Bait of Pleasure
Author: [personal profile] holdouttrout
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Characters/Pairing: Highlight to reveal: Sam/Ba'al
Wordcount: 1700
Warnings: Highlight to reveal: Sexual situations, character death (the two are somewhat related)
Rating: NC-17
Summary/Notes: This is an alternate timeline of Continuum (Yes, an alternate timeline of an alternate timeline), in which Sam is not military or with NASA. It was written for [community profile] 36_stratagems for the prompt "Hide a knife behind a smile. Charm and ingratiate yourself to your enemy. When you have gained his trust, move against him in secret." My abject thanks to [personal profile] ultranos for reading it first and to [personal profile] abyssinia, who shared my brainspace and betaed it for me.

There has been a recent spate of postcards to and from members of SG-1, that somehow seem to find their way to our mailboxes. It appears that SG-1 is taking a well-deserved vacation and traveling around the world, seeing the sights, getting into trouble. Due to an addressing mishap*, I just received this lovely postcard from Vala, to Sam. It says:

Dearest Sam-

What an interesting little town this Santa Barbara is. Very relaxed, lots of bikinis, and an awful lot of wine tasting rooms! (Makes people a bit careless with their valuables.) I think you should ditch the Hammond and the atrocious flight suit and join me down here. And if you drank too much wine, by chance, I'd be sure to keep an eye on your valuables. I promise.

Love,
Vala

I'm quite jealous, never having been wine tasting, and I think Sam is crazy for not taking Vala up on her very generous and selfless offer. *g*

*I have a new address.

1. I donated some of my precious bodily fluids today, and had a few minor adventures, but the main thing that had me annoyed was that when they took out the needle--the woman practically ripped it out of my arm. I had to hold my arm over my head for way, way longer than usual.

And now it aches.

Ouch.

2. Speaking of vampires, I've been reading Tanya Huff. I had no idea what I was missing in my vampire novels. Oh, wait, that's right: vampires that didn't suck.

Well, they do.

Er... you know what I meant.

Also: kick-ass heroine, awesome secondary characters, and intelligent plotting!

I'm up to the one with the mummy.

3. Earlier this week, I also managed to hit a store closing sale and got three pairs of pants, jeans, and two belts... for $47. *drops dead* SO excited. I'm still riding the euphoria from that trip.

4. Finally, I had a moment. Or rather, I saw a Sam/Cam moment. In Ark of Truth, at the end, with the macaroons. I mean, yeah, it was always there, but I never paid attention. *fans self* Still not willing to try macaroons to prove my fannish devotion, though.

P.S. Writing an LJ post totally counts, right, [livejournal.com profile] annerbhp?

Title: Sam's Patented Stress Relief Solution
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Characters: Sam, Teal'c. Sam/Sam/Sam/Sam/Sam/etc
Rating: Teen (mentions of an orgy, masturbation)
Summary: Teal'c finds a very unhappy Sam and isn't anywhere near prepared for what she says is the matter. Set during Ripple Effect.
Notes: First, you have to understand that [livejournal.com profile] annienau08 and I are very silly, and, while in Vancouver, had a very silly conversation about Sam, the team, and orgies. This whole fic is her fault... unless it was mine. Actually, calling it a fic might be a little much. :-)

Of all his teammates, she was the one most fascinated by alternate versions of herself )

Okay, so. I've been watching SGU since the beginning, and mostly haven't said a whole lot, partly because I didn't want to bore anyone and partly because my main reaction has been twofold: *yawn* and *OMFGWILLRUSHDIAFALREADY*

Still, I've seen glimmers of hope. I quite enjoyed "Time," "Justice," and "Space," enough to keep watching, anyway. I feel the need to recap "Human" and "Lost," however, so bear with me.

Mostly positive under here, though not very organized )
