Once again, I have come to the end of the week and found that I am, more and more, a lurker who hasn't posted in quite some time. *sighs*

This week, I blame:

1. Work

2. Portal 2

3. Angry Birds

4. Harry Potter (mostly Harry Potter)

In any case, I have fannish thoughts that always seem to crop up on Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday.

1. Wouldn't it be nice if someone (preferably on my flist, so I know it's there) posted Sam/Jack cuddle fic? (I maybe should just write this one myself.)

2. Wouldn't it be nice if someone (preferably on my flist, so I know it's there) posted smut fic (preferably in a pairing I read)?

3. Why is it that Fridays are always so quiet on lj?

I had a concession speech all planned out for my total and utter defeat in the jello deathmatch poll, and then I checked, and [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat had already cast her vote in my direction. I WAS going to write a post about how although I would not fear an honorable jello-y death at the hands of such a lovely feline, I would acquiesce graciously to the will of the people.

And then I was going to wax poetic about [livejournal.com profile] splash_the_cat, which would have no doubt lead to more fanart and/or fic.

Alas, said post shall never be completed.

On the other hand, I have a couple of awesome things I must pass on:

1. [livejournal.com profile] annerbhp wrote me a birthday fic. Conversations We Never Had, which is seven conversations between Sam and Jack that never happened (but probably should have). It is made of utter and total win. Also, there is touching.

2. [livejournal.com profile] grav_ity did an amazing and hilarious timeline for Moebius, complete with illustrations, showing that the team at the beginning of the ep and the team at the end of the ep are the same. Except for the fish.

3. [personal profile] ultranos send me a link to this awesome video: Yoshida Brothers: Rising.

Also, I may be playing Twilight Princess on the Wii. I DON'T GAME but I'm loving it. Probably because there is no pointless leveling like every other RPG I've ever played watched my brother play.

This isn't a real report of my recent trip to London, but for now it'll have to suffice to say that it was wonderful. Oxford is SO pretty and charming, London has WAY too much to do for being there only three days, and AT5 was fabulous. Gotta love the power of the fangirls.

So, my iPod apparently doesn't like the last four episodes of Sanctuary season 3. I have checked for them to load on it, and it looks like they're loading, but then they don't show up on the list! They don't, as far as I can tell, show up anywhere. I even searched for them, to no avail. What could I have possibly done to deserve this?

Kali (all parts), Firewall, Bank Job, Trail of Blood )

Whew. Caught up!

Quick hair update: Really, washing with conditioner works just fine. Also, I've figured out a balance I like for now as far as products go. :-) Now I just need to decide if I want to cut it, and, if so, how much, when, and where. Eeps.

First, WAY too much info about my hair.

TL;DR--I'm Doing Things to my hair )

Okay, Sanctuary. I'm so behind on my little review-thingys. I don't know that anyone really cares if I skip some, but we'll see what we can do. :-)

Veritas, Next Tuesday, Penance, Sleepers, and Haunted )

On a much lighter note, I really, really, really want to tie a string around Will's head to keep his mouth from gaping.

I don't know what it is*, but I have hit critical mass with Sanctuary--I'm reading fic, and rewatching, and day-dreaming up implausible John/Helen kisses in rainstorms.

Look, I have a Thing about kissing in the rain, okay?

But seriously, I've got it bad. I'm at that weird in-love stage where episodes like "Nubbins" look all adorable and fun--I think part of this is that the first time I was watching these eps I was still so close to Stargate and Amanda-Tapping-as-Sam-Carter that I was anxiously watching for all the wrong things instead of enjoying the ride, and now I'm oh so definitely enjoying the ride.

I only had time to watch the very beginning of "The Five" this morning, and oh, Tesla. I can't wait for more of your evil, snarky deliciousness.

*Maybe partly having to do with some of the recent, amazing fic I've been reading. And bookmarking.

I am slowly, SLOWLY moving my fics to my account over there, and I have gotten a couple of reviews. (YAY!)

Does anyone know what the protocol for responding to reviews on the archive is? Do most people not bother, or is it more like lj with most authors responding to (most) comments?

Also...

Coming soon: A Stargate fic with a pairing never before seen on this journal. One that probably three--including my beta--of you will read, and that probably because you are just being nice. Or need a laugh.

Mwa ha ha!

(I don't know what I'm going to do once I screw up the courage to post this fic and then one more that is mostly finished. I might have to actually write something new! *faints*)

Last night I made the most delicious pizza I have ever, ever, ever eaten. Garlic olive oil, fresh basil, cheese, and tomatoes, perfectly combined on a homemade crust (my first ever), in an explosion of culinary delight. I had trouble restraining myself from putting another batch of dough together to make more Right. Then.

I think I'm getting this cooking thing!

I've been doing my cartwheels faithfully (for the most part), and today I did one that I could feel was SO much better than the others. Of course, putting all my weight over one wrist is killing it, so I'm going to have to think about either (1) trying my left side, which will be dangerous to everything around me as well as to my own body or (2) something else which hasn't occurred to me yet. Stopping the cartwheels isn't a very good answer, in my opinion.

I've been thinking about female characters and misogyny and hatred of female characters. I'm starting to think that "If you don't like a particular female character, then you're misogynistic" is simplistic and unhelpful.

You guys, I sometimes don't like female characters.

There, I said it )

Oh, crap. I still have to write my Indulgence Fic.

First things first: Tiger Beatdown's Take on Avatar had me just about falling out of my chair laughing. Pay special attention to #5 and know that she describes me. (And maybe some of my fic. You know the one. Yeah.)

I have Important Things to Say about Legend of the Seeker (that don't include spoilers):

1) The latest ep I've watched, (something about moons and stars and childhood girlfriends, I dunno) marks the first time a first watch of a clip show episode truly annoyed me. I JUST WATCHED THOSE TEN EPISODES-- I DON'T NEED TO SEE THEM AGAIN, KTHX.

2) "Richard" still strikes me as a hilarious name for the hero. I can't get over it. "RICHAAAAARD! Richard will save us!" All I can think is "Who names their kid Richard these days?"

Yes, my love is deep and everlasting.

Oh, wait. One more thing: possibly involving a spoiler )

Okay, so not much else besides those two things, but I AM feeling better. Also, I need to write fic. Any suggestions?

I am trying out a new positive reinforcement system for the universe. Maybe if I say that Mondays are awesome enough times, it will become true, no?

The experiment might have to start next week, though, because the fatigue and ugh-ness of yesterday carried over to today, despite me trying to fend it off with a nap yesterday and a decent bedtime. So far, my possible diagnoses include: mono, anemia, and the common cold (No, I did NOT spend the morning googling "fatigue." I don't know what you're talking about). Anyway, I have to see the doctor soon anyway, so if it's still around in a couple of days, I'll get it checked out.

In other news, I'm completely taken with Legend of the Seeker. I'm... sorry? This was a total surprise to me, because although I intended to pick it up sometime, I wasn't expecting to fall head over heels. IT'S SO PRETTY, GUYS. I'm noticing a lot of things I like a lot, like how the main female character is totally competent! And guest roles actually contain nuance! AND DID I MENTION IT'S PRETTY?

The only thing that is making me roll my eyes cut for maybe spoilers )

Who would you ship me with? *g*

(I took this from that meme thing going around, but I don't really want to play in someone else's journal (whom I do not know). I'm allowing anonymous comments, but still tracking IPs. Oh, and if you want to play here instead of setting up your own post, just comment with your username and ride the coattails of lurve!)

ETA: It has been brought to my attention that I may have posted this at some time in the past. Just ignore this post if you remember that. *g*

Or, an attempt to vaguely classify, mock, and point out the interactions that make fandom a fun and ridiculous place.

Some good, some bad )

Note: This is my attempt to actually differentiate between types on BNF. I don't believe for a second that BNFs all fit into one description, nor do I believe that mine in an exhaustive list. All descriptions of BNFs should be taken with a lot of salt and possibly some ibuprofen. Any resemblance to actual BNFs is absolutely not coincidence, though perhaps not the coincidence you're thinking of.
