holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (weather)
I almost got mauled by a dog today, and I think it shows how strange I am because I kind of count that as a highlight. I mean, if I'd actually gotten mauled by a dog it would have been terrible, but as it is, I get to count it as a win. "Hey! I didn't get mauled by a dog today! What a fantastic day!"

(Okay, so the actual danger level was very low. There was just a very defensive dog off its leash in the neighborhood and it DID NOT LIKE STRANGE WOMAN IN ITS TERRITORY.)

The rest of the day wasn't bad either. We've been having fabulously warm spring weather the last few days. Sunday was the warmest 3/31 of record. Ever. By something like 6 degrees. I wore a pretty dress and did my hair in a french braid (myself!) and wore makeup and jewelry and sandals and looked TOTALLY cute.

(Best compliment: "I didn't recognize you. You look so beautiful!" This was followed by a horrified look from the complimentor, and I assured her I wouldn't take it amiss.)

Anyway, the weather today was great, and my boss took us all out for lunch and I got to do a fun project and complain about ridiculous form requirements from the home office. YAY.

I also just saw the 100th ep of Castle, which was spoilers! )

Other things which I am excited about: Iron Man 3. STILL. [personal profile] splash_the_cat has been keeping me extremely squeeful on tumblr by reposting lots of Tony and Pepper gifs. I always want to reblog them and hardly ever do because I'm PRETTY sure I don't have enough unique followers to justify reblogging 8,000,000 Tony/Pepper gifs.

:-)

I'm also re-reading Pride and Prejudice. *happy sighs* I really like how Lizzie doesn't show up as a main character right away--though I think that actually frustrated me when I first tried to read it.

I'm... disappointed that goodreads is being bought by amazon. I don't use it a lot, but I don't really want a one-store platform. Bah.

1. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries: I will never quit you. What? THERE'S ONLY ONE MORE EPISODE? That sucks.

2. I am re-watching the BBC Pride and Prejudice. These things might be related.

3. Once Upon a Time! How did you manage to become My New Thing? There is still so much wrong with you. But I apparently don't care.

4. I got spoiled for something related to Iron Man 3. Really, not a Big Thing, but a very fun thing. Oops? There's really no way I could have avoided it, I know. Not unless I cut myself off from all internet-related fun for the next month or so. That wasn't going to happen.

I have an unhealthy obsession with 1) green and 2) Pride and Prejudice. I, along with every girl in the known world, love Mr. Darcy, although since he is also an INTJ, it's probably not a good idea to think about marrying him. Anyway, I own the soundtrack to the new version, own the new version as well as the BBC version. I have much love for BOTH of them, for varying reasons, which I could enumerate at great length.

The shorter version usually ends up in my DVD player, because I can finish it more quickly, but this week I decided to have a nice, long, P&P marathon. Hello, Colin Firth!

HOWEVER, whilst watching it through this time, I was struck by the friendship between Elizabeth and Charlotte. I have a HUGE weakness for literature where women have friends and not just love interests, and I adore the relationship between Lizzie and Charlotte. They are so different from each other, but they have a really rich history of friendship. And the BBC version really brings that out in small glances and smiles.

So Lizzie's going to visit Charlotte and Mr. Collins. As soon as she steps down from the carriage, Mr. Collins starts in with his smug snobbery, and everyone exchanges pleasantries. Everyone except Charlotte and Lizzie. They just look at each other, so glad to be together again, and that one moment encompasses a whole conversation of worry and reassurances. It's amazing!

And then, of course, I realized you could slash them*. :-P

SRSLY, PEOPLE. FANDOM HAS RUINED ME.

In other, funner news, [livejournal.com profile] rigel_7 made pic!fic trampoline pr0n! It's actually work-safe, as long as you don't mind little SP Cams running around half-naked. *grins* The Fannish Requisition, which is just about the best title EVAR!

*No, seriously! They're like...best friends! They have sleepovers and take long walks and then kiss each other! But they still have to get married because they are poor. Woe!
