I started using a Verilux a few years ago, mostly to help me wake up because winters here are dark and dreary in the morning. I don't think I have traditional SAD, but I do think it helps. I just put on the table in front of me while I eat breakfast/read a paper. I've never gotten the energy high others get, but I do think it helps me wake up and have a calmer(?) brain in the morning.
