Crackfic thoughts

Some–maybe most–fanfic is a dialog with the source material, but my current working theory is that crackfic is meant to be in dialog with the fandom itself. When I think about the crackfic I’ve written, I have written it as a reaction to fans and friends, and not as a reaction to the show (more often than not.) I started thinking about it after reading an article that presented a defense of fanfic, but didn’t have a specific defense for crackfic.
