holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (strike)

You know that feeling when your ficathon entry is due the next day, and you've only got part of it written, and you don't know where it's going, and you're really not fond of the idea of lending your soul out, even if it is to such a wonderful human being as Jenn, and you really ought to be worrying about your real life and insurance license anyway, and on top of *that*, you have to deal with people who live in your house, and you haven't gotten enough sleep, and you don't know what you're going to eat for dinner and you think you just made an ass of yourself with your coworker and you haven't had time to read everything your flist has been posting, and you know you're forgetting something but can't quite remember what it is?

Yeah.

But onto better things:

Proving that I will join anything with the words "Sam Carter" and "love" in the description, I just, well--didn't join, but started watching

[profile] sam_carter_sga and [profile] carter_sheppard. Not joining because I have nothing to say, quite yet, and because of the above feeling-overwhelmed-feeling.

I've also posted a little about Miss Parker over in 6beforelunch's awesome invitation to love on our favorite female characters. I've known so many over the years, and I've even got soft spots for the worst stereotypical offenders, for reasons I should probably write down someday. My comment gets a bit...rambly, but it's full of true joy. Pretender was my first love, people.

In other news, I was...duh duh duh! Nominated for the Stargate Fan Awards. I love you, people who nominated me. The two fics nominated were "Wow," which was one of my very first SG-1 fics EVAR, and "Ten Easy Steps Toward Piracy," which was written for the pirate ficathon, and which I thought people were kinda "meh" about. So, nice surprise!

[livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077 and I were talking about our on-screen pet peeves. Hers has to do with bad science. Mine is any time it calls for a character to "play" piano. Ninety-eight percent of the time (yes, I'm making that up), the hand movements aren't even in the right SECTION of the piano. Even when they don't show the hands, I can tell by body language whether or not the actor is even making an honest attempt.

And don't get me started on music syncing.

So what's your pet peeve? Something you know so well that any little thing wrong jumps out of you and takes you right out of the story?

The Ultimate Fandom

(I'm pretty amused by this idea)

It would out-do Harry Potter fandom in terms of crazy, me thinks. But I...might actually love it. I don't agree with everything, but...I can already picture the squee.
