Sam, Jack, and Amusing Thoughts
Jan. 23rd, 2012 01:42 pmSo, I've been on a massive Sam/Jack reading phase again. Apparently, I will never quit them. I'm loving the deliciously angsty UST, or the deliciously angsty RST, or the deliciously angsty angst.
Also: fic gets easier to download every day.
I love you, 21st century.
So, occasionally I amuse myself trying to explain fannish jokes to unfannish people. This is usually an exercise in futility, because 1) I can't tell stories properly and 2) unfannish people just don't get it, whatever it is.
Other times, I amuse myself by simply imagining trying to explain fannish jokes to unfannish people. ( cut because this isn't quite work safe and uses an example from the end of a missparker fic )

Lost Songs, and Awesome Internet Things
Apr. 12th, 2011 07:43 pmI lost a song.
I was in a coffee shop--it's my new favorite place ever, because it has a great cozy-yet-slightly-industrial feel, and it's small, and has wonderful cinnamon rolls, and isn't the old coffee shop of which I will not speak. Mind you, no coffee-drinking actually takes place while I'm there, at least not at my table.
Anyway, I was at the coffee shop, and this Song came on. It was so beautiful my friend and I actually stopped talking to listen to the whole thing, and while I meant to write down a portion of the lyrics, various circumstances conspired against me and I can't remember enough to find it.
I seriously considered being the nutty customer who goes up to the counter and asks, "So, there was this song, in a minor key, sung by a woman, really soft and melodic, and it was a couple of weeks ago that I heard it… do you know it?" But I didn't.
*sighs*
I will have more Stargate rewatch soon, but 'Politics' severely slowed me down. Clips shows are remarkably boring when you're watching faster than once a week.
Meanwhile, here are some awesome internet things:
gravity linked this wonderful time-waster.
I laughed… because it's true(ish).
The Periodic Table of Storytelling.
Beautiful, sad Fringe Vid.

Category: Humor; Gen; Classic Team Era
Word Count: 1600
Summary: With everything SG teams and staff encounter, who can they turn to and get some honest, practical advice?
Holdouttrout's Author Note: This is what happens when I make comments about random things to people with the time and inclination to write fic... and I like it. :-) I made some comment to
aurora_novarum one time, and she started writing this fic. Then, as revenge, she shoved it my way. She'll try to take the blame, but she definitely deserves most of the credit.

Title: Sam's Patented Stress Relief Solution
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Characters: Sam, Teal'c. Sam/Sam/Sam/Sam/Sam/etc
Rating: Teen (mentions of an orgy, masturbation)
Summary: Teal'c finds a very unhappy Sam and isn't anywhere near prepared for what she says is the matter. Set during Ripple Effect.
Notes: First, you have to understand that
annienau08 and I are very silly, and, while in Vancouver, had a very silly conversation about Sam, the team, and orgies. This whole fic is her fault... unless it was mine. Actually, calling it a fic might be a little much. :-)
( Of all his teammates, she was the one most fascinated by alternate versions of herself )

Funnier if you still like Lost
Sep. 28th, 2009 09:04 pmBut pretty awesome anyway.
Jorge Garcia's Fanmail
Warning: contains nudity and unicorns and yet manages to be worksafe (depending on your work, I suppose). I know, I don't understand it either.
ETA: My cat (my roommate's cat, really) has apparently decided that my emery board is her new toy. I noticed her playing with it so I picked it up and put it in a cup on the coffee table. Not two seconds later she's got it back out again.
My cat is too smart.

If I was a fandom...
Jun. 11th, 2009 07:08 pmWho would you ship me with? *g*
(I took this from that meme thing going around, but I don't really want to play in someone else's journal (whom I do not know). I'm allowing anonymous comments, but still tracking IPs. Oh, and if you want to play here instead of setting up your own post, just comment with your username and ride the coattails of lurve!)
ETA: It has been brought to my attention that I may have posted this at some time in the past. Just ignore this post if you remember that. *g*

This weekend, we got a new couch, which is really my roommate's mom's old couch, with a new cover. It's a heck of a lot less back-breaking than the old couch. The cover is made of an off-white, really pretty, durable material.
One of our cats is black. The other is dark and fluffy. Very fluffy.
The cats LOVE the new couch.
Yeah.

I apologize for the blurry pics; I am not a photographer and also the lighting in my room sucks. I took these while also pointing a lamp at my very patient actors. *g*
