The White Dress of Innocent Deception

There’s a lot of discussion about Emma Swan’s white Camelot dress. Some people love how princess-y it is. Some people hate how it doesn’t seem like red-leather-jacket, painted-on-jeans Emma.

Me? I love it because I read it as “Look, you’re the Dark One but we can’t let people know that so we’re going to make you look at innocent and non-threatening as possible.”

Just look at this thing:



The dress is (off)white. It’s got lace. The neckline is up to her neck. She has full-length sleeves. She has a flippin’ flower crown. That is not Emma Swan. That is camouflage.
