No, seriously though, I think part of the problem is the way North America's infrastructure works. More Canada and the US than Mexico, but still... well you have to drive most everywhere. Buses and trains are inconvenient, stuff's spread too far apart to walk, and if you ride a bike you're going to get killed (but that's partly because people on bikes, at least in my area, often think they can just randomly dart out into traffic without looking).
Other places I've been, you have to walk a lot more to get around. Especially Japan, holy hell. You lose weight just going to the grocery store.

*shrug* it's tough here. Like the deck is stacked against you. We need societal change if we're going to hope for healthier people.
