holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Default)
I have not yet read [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong's Walked Right out of the Machinery, which is reported from all sides to be amazing. Mostly because reading a long fic, for me, takes some investment and I haven't had the energy/time yet. But I plan to get to it tomorrow or early next week.

On the other hand, I'm getting into a reading mood again and hit my "toread" tag on del.icio.us (if you ever wonder why the hell I haven't commented on your fic, it might have been because it ended up in the "toread" tag purgatory), and generally enjoyed myself, finding A Still, Small Voice by [livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077, which is the second ficlet in the entry (the first one rocks, too), and is just a wonderful, angsty look at Sara and the way she's pulled into the fringes of impossibility because of her past relationship with Jack.

I'm also using this post to remind myself that there are several videos linked in the "toread" tag, as I cannot watch them at work. WATCH THEM, TROUT.

And for the final bit, I'm working on a project I've codenamed "Um," which needs a lot more work than I orignally thought, as I've been guilted into writing smut with a purpose (or at least emotional resonance) and needed some rationale for the events of the fic anyway. Besides, I think, for some odd reason, that this particular story has some sort of weird, smutty, ridiculous insight somewhere in it. I'm probably wrong, but I want to try.

(And if the two or three people who know anything about this fic mention so much as a character in the comments...I'll just have to never write them anything ever again. Okay, that's totally not true, but I'm feeling nervous even telling anyone that I'm writing anything. I know, I know. I'm superstitious and weird.)
