I am completely obsessed with Michael Phelps the Olympics.

If you see me online the next couple of weeks, I will probably be pretending I know something about various ridiculous sports, and pretending I know more than I do about swimming.

And possibly ranting about judging. *grins*

If you haven't seen the opening ceremonies yet, you can find video here. It was quite fantastic to watch--people are calling it the most spectacular opening ceremonies ever. So.

Incidentally, this is what I did this weekend, except for a wedding and a bridal shower (in that order, and for two different people).

[livejournal.com profile] supplyship, when do I get my Michael Phelps fan club membership card?

See, and I was just grumpy that while we were watching the opening ceremonies (with alcohol and snarky commentary), apparently I MISSED the one event I was really wanting to catch other than men's water polo. That being women's saber.

On the other hand, I felt very smug about the USA's first three medals. Hooray for swashbucklers!

Indeed. I know that you can find the video from just about anything online...if you still want to see it!

Oh, I know that the NBC Olympic website has the videos, just that you can't skip around in them. So I'd really have to sit through 5 hours of fencing when I really just want to start from the quarter-finals. (I think I'd be more willing to watch all 5 hours if I didn't already know the outcome.)

My life is hard. :)

Yeah. Five hours is a little much.

Hah hah hah! That's great. I'm ah...adapting it to icon form. Using paint. At work.

Maybe it's a good thing video doesn't want to play on my computer...

I was watching swimming last night with my two teenage daughters who also think Michael Phelps is the hottest thing on the planet. There was much discussion of his various body parts, and my older daughter was fanning herself from his hawtness...the hormones they were a-raging!

It's not so much his looks (although those aren't bad), it's more the sheer athleticism.

Yeah, totally. There are times when he can look a little dorky! But it's just amazing that someone can be THAT fit. Wow.

Looky! I committed iconage too!

Little dorky and all athletic can be a very nice combo...think Daniel Jackson....

I have no cool icon...*blushes*

Up for grabs, if you want:

Hee! I'll have to steal that one laters. It is awesome.

Rant about judging! That sounds like fun, and I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Small girls apparently think swimming is boring, so I haven't watched much of that, sadly. But they apparently love synchronized diving and can be convinced to watch gymnastics.

Hee! I LOVED gymnastics when I was a little girl, and I know that I would have been over the moon with synchronized diving.

I highly suggest sneaking in the 400m freestyle relay. Because...just. Yeah. Wow.

Agreed, the 4x100 relay from last night was totally worth watching, so much drama and excitement and milliseconds deciding the outcome - it's all the reasons I enjoy watching sporting events.

I mean, goodness gracious, one team broke the world record by a good margin, and only finished 4th!

Eee! Michael Phelps The Olympics!

I much prefer the Summer Olympics, so I'm having a great time right now. Swimming, gymnastics, beach volleyball...life is good. And it'll only get better when diving starts.

Seriously, though. Michael Phelps! He is just amazing. And confident without being arrogant, which I appreciate it. I cheered so loudly when the boys came back and won that relay. So very cool.

It was just so unexpected! I knew they won and halfway through I was STILL sure they must have lost.

Mmm, Olympics... My favorites so far have been men's gymnastics (teh hawt) and women's beach volleyball (teh hawt). And swimming when the swimmers are in the water. Love it.

(I also admit that I am psyched for a shooting competition, but only one of them, because I know one of the competitors. Of course, it's not until THURSDAY geeze, and it's not being televised.)

It's always a bummer when the little ones you want to see aren't televised. *sighs*

mmmmmmmm! Michael Phelps OLYMPICS! The summer Olympics have all my favorite sports: swimming, soccer, track, gymnastics, volleyball. I'm in athletics heaven.
