'O' is a tough letter, Pepper, but I managed!
1. Ophelia (Hamlet)
Poor Ophelia. Driven mad by her crazy boyfriend until she is wandering around half-clothed and uttering prophetic statements until she throws herself in the river. She really just has one of the worst times in Hamlet, and that's saying something. Regardless, I've always liked the character--I've always been a little too much of a sap for tragic romance, even when it comes to whiny emo boys.
2. O'Neill, Jack (Stargate)
Poor Jack. Driven mad by his crazy boyfriend, Daniel, he latches onto an imaginary world full of aliens, heroism, and adventure--one that ends up driving him to create yet another fantasy world where he lives as a barber. Okay, no. Seriously, Jack holds a special place in my heart. He's a thouroughly jaded optimist who lets his optimist friends talk him into way too many adventures--some of which turn out pretty badly. He's snarky and somehow compelling, even when he's being completely annoying. And he's hot. Never hurts.
3. Oberon (various)
My first exposure to Oberon was through Gargoyles, which has messed me up for a whole lot of mythology. :-) Nevertheless, in Midsummer Night's Dream, he always seems like a rather manipulative jerk--which means, of course, that his Queen is bound to fall in love with him at the end for the very character traits she despises in the first place. *sighs*
4. Dr. Olga Vukavitch (7 Days)
Oh, lord. Wasn't this show just the awesome crack? I really liked Olga at the time, although I think I would now get rather tired of the disparity between how she was portrayed and what she was supposed to be. Still...she was smart, competent, and completely exasperated by the man-child she was supposed to like.
5. Obadiah Stane (Iron Man Movieverse)
Given that I only know the movieverse, Obiadiah is as creepy as fuck, and the more I read fic, the more I'm convinced of it. *shudders* The way he *leans* into Tony, or Pepper, or the cold, calculating look in his eyes. Damn. I really, really, really wouldn't want to cross him. Ever. With or without an iron suit.

You can give me a letter ... but I think I'll suck at this meme. So be nice and start me off with like L or H. :P

Date: 2008-09-03 11:29 pm (UTC)From:So there's this husband and wife duo on my WoW guild that made two characters named Swampophelia and Fenhamlet. (Which I, in my stupidity, totally didn't connect until they specifically told me about them.)
Anyhow, for the longest time, I read her name as Swampo-phelia, as in, someone who was in love with swamps. Thus, the reason why your #1 choice made me illogically chuckle.

Hee. I know it's a cliche, but it would be fun if they'd done the 'it was all a dream/delusion, and now you're awake!' thing in Stargate. I'm surprised they didn't, actually, given their love for the classics... Oh, no, wait - they did, with Liz. My faith in them is restored.

Date: 2008-09-04 02:37 pm (UTC)From:Hee! Yeah. And you could argue about the Gamekeeper, maybe. :-) I both love and loathe that cliche, actually, because the ending sometimes ends up feeling like a cheat. Good writers can pull it off, though.
