By midnight tonight, I will have written 50,000 words of original fiction, taking a story idea I've had for at LEAST six years and putting it down piece by piece. Granted, it has superfluous adjectives, sometimes poor word choice, wandering sentences, paragraphs, useless scenes, gratuitous femslash, hetsex, and the most random naming system fantasy has ever SEEN, a cobblestone plot, and it really ought to be a completely different book, but it's THERE.
*grins*
You know, I almost finished last year, but the truth is, I never wanted to see that novel ever, ever again. I may go back and read it for laughs sometime, but it was really a crap novel just to get me started writing. This year I feel like I actually *made* something, something I wanted to see, something that I might actually let other people see if I can just go through and replace all the damn names. (OMG WHY IS NAMING SO HARD?)
Now, as soon as I verify (and WIN!), I'm taking December off. I'm going to wallow in fanfiction, hopefully. I'm going to fret about Do Something Scary, and possibly poke at the galpalficathon fic I wanted to write (after watching Pride and Prejudice and possibly reading the book, too), and then I'm going to watch Iron Man a lot.
Like...a LOT.
What? It'll be the holidays, and everyone needs a holiday flick. Oh, come on. Iron Man is totally Christmassy. Stop looking at me like that, KR.
Other things I did this weekend besides write 7,000 words: laundry, vacuumed(OMG CAT HAIR), slept, saw Twilight, watched Bones, watched a very creepy Alice in Wonderland movie, complained about writing, ate, bought shoes, wrapped three Christmas boxes for kids, and cut Vashti's front claws. Not in that order. *g*
Twilight was okay, which was disappointing. I hoped for surprisingly good or devastatingly bad, and I got neither. All the cheesy stuff was stuff straight from the book, except the CGI, which honestly wasn't as bad as it could have been. HOWEVER, KR was happy, so that was good, and I liked a lot more of the characters when not seen through Bella's filter. I think I just don't really like Bella.
