holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (take_back_the_glee)
I am trying out a new positive reinforcement system for the universe. Maybe if I say that Mondays are awesome enough times, it will become true, no?

The experiment might have to start next week, though, because the fatigue and ugh-ness of yesterday carried over to today, despite me trying to fend it off with a nap yesterday and a decent bedtime. So far, my possible diagnoses include: mono, anemia, and the common cold (No, I did NOT spend the morning googling "fatigue." I don't know what you're talking about). Anyway, I have to see the doctor soon anyway, so if it's still around in a couple of days, I'll get it checked out.

In other news, I'm completely taken with Legend of the Seeker. I'm... sorry? This was a total surprise to me, because although I intended to pick it up sometime, I wasn't expecting to fall head over heels. IT'S SO PRETTY, GUYS. I'm noticing a lot of things I like a lot, like how the main female character is totally competent! And guest roles actually contain nuance! AND DID I MENTION IT'S PRETTY?

The only thing that is making me roll my eyes (aside from some of the acting, which really, considering this is a syndicated-type show a la Xena, isn't THAT bad), is the cliche of the Doomed Love That Can Never Be (in almost so many words, too). I find this surprising, because that's one of my favorite cliches like, EVER. Maybe it's because they started it so early--it's fairly obvious that These Two Are Destined And Yet Their Love is Forbidden right from the start. Maybe it's just because it comes accompanied at the moment by glistening tears. (I think/hope that's temporary.) Maybe I'm just Over That at the moment. (This is unlikely.)

ANYWAY, I'M IN LOVE. FEAR ME.

(So far, I haven't gone looking for fic. I have this FEELING that most of it will be TERRIBLE. I did, however, write really terrible Sue-fic in my head last night while waiting to fall asleep. I deny everything.)

I too have avoided fic LotS fic like the plague. But I can rec a couple of vids if you'd like.

I write Sue fic in my head *every* night before I go to sleep. It's seriously the best way to relax my mind for rest rather than going over other, anxiety-inducing stuff.

Isn't it just? And no one else ever needs to see it, ever!

I love LotS! And I don't know where you are in the show, but it definitely gets better with time. I've also heard (though I don't know for sure, so hopefully this is not spoiling you in anyway) that they eventually find a way to be together in the series of books that the show is based on. Of course, even if that is true, that's not to say that the show will do exactly the same things as the books. Apparently, already in the first two seasons some things are very different.

Look at me ramble! Eep! All I meant to say was, yes, it's a great show and I suspect that if you continue to stick with it, you might enjoy it even more.

As for the rest-- sending good, healthy vibes your way :)

Just about halfway through the first season, I think. I have heard about the books finding a way, which makes me hopeful (although TV tends to draaaaag it out, but in the couple of later eps I saw, they were kissing, so... yeah. I think I can live with it for a while.)

And thanks for the good, healthy vibes. I'm planning on more sleep tonight.

Hee. They had a marathon on when I was packing to go to Denver, and I totally got sucked into watching the whole thing. I'm not hooked, but if I find it on I will definitely stick around and watch. I do agree about the whole star-crossed lovers thing, though. Going to get old real fast.

Hee hee. Yeah. I didn't think I was hooked, but then I watched that fateful third episode...

I am crossing my fingers for the star-crossed lovers. *grins*

I am trying out a new positive reinforcement system for the universe.

I approve of this plan. I might try it myself.

(I'm ignoring you squeeing about LotS, because I am already surrounded by people trying to get me to watch this show and I have no time! *g*)

I don't know what you are talking about. Mondays are, in fact, AWESOME. I LOVE Mondays!

And for those of you who don't know me, I am actually sincere about my love for Mondays. I also work in an industry in which Fri, Sat and Sun are our busy days and Mondays are generally our days off.

Yes, well... I'm not quite sure that counts... :-P

But yeah. Actually, I usually DO like Mondays, kinda. Sorta. Sometimes.

I haven't seen the show, but I recommend the books! (Errr, sadly it's been awhile since I've read them, and I don't think I've read the last couple, so I can't really comment on the 'do-they-end-up-together' thing. Although, I'm pretty sure I remember them being together for a lot of it, I don't know if they were together.

It's Monday. I'm not really all that useful. It's allowed. :)

Hee! Any comment on Monday is a good comment. *grins* I think I read at least part of the first book. I wasn't in the mood for an extended fantasy series at the time, but if I hit the end of the TV series, there's no telling what'll happen with that.
