Avatar, Legend of the Seeker, and maybe something else if I can think of anything

First things first: Tiger Beatdown's Take on Avatar had me just about falling out of my chair laughing. Pay special attention to #5 and know that she describes me. (And maybe some of my fic. You know the one. Yeah.)

I have Important Things to Say about Legend of the Seeker (that don't include spoilers):

1) The latest ep I've watched, (something about moons and stars and childhood girlfriends, I dunno) marks the first time a first watch of a clip show episode truly annoyed me. I JUST WATCHED THOSE TEN EPISODES-- I DON'T NEED TO SEE THEM AGAIN, KTHX.

2) "Richard" still strikes me as a hilarious name for the hero. I can't get over it. "RICHAAAAARD! Richard will save us!" All I can think is "Who names their kid Richard these days?"

Yes, my love is deep and everlasting.

Oh, wait. One more thing: Kahlan as a Mord Sith? Totes hot. Not that she's not gorgeous all the time, although, please, a little less with the big, blue eyes, but yeah. Leather? AWESOME.

Okay, so not much else besides those two things, but I AM feeling better. Also, I need to write fic. Any suggestions?

Oh hahahaha, that review is fabulous! But also, when I see it in IMAX, I will still laugh when that one dude screws a horse. Heh. When I was watching the movie, I totally laughed out loud during the "Pilates at the tree" part.

I'm so glad you're on the LotS bus now! GLEE.

1. I remember that clip show annoying the hell out of me too. Very odd placement. But then again, I was mainlining Season 1 like you were, so maybe that's it.

2. Heh. I actually know a 5 year old named Richard, and I always laugh (in my head) when I say his name.

3. OK, if you like Kahlan in leather, you will like Season 2. I'm just sayin'.

1. I don't think it's that odd of placement--right in the middle of the seasons, it's essentially a viewer trapper episode. "Oh, so THAT'S what this is all about." I just... wish Netflix had a better FF button. *g*

2. I don't really even know why it amuses me so much, but I seriously giggle most of the time they say his name.

Richard is just barely out of the top 100 (as of 2008). Check this out http://www.socialsecurity.gov/cgi-bin/babyname.cgi

In other words, sounds dated but still around and kicking although nothing is more horrible (to my ears) than the sound of a shrill mother's voice going 'Richaaaaaard.'

Hee. Maybe it's just that I expect people to shorten it to Rick. Or something. I mean, I know a Rick around my own age. Or maybe it's the fantasy setting, and Richard has always seemed very "real." Especially when the wizard's name is Zeddicus Zul Zorander. I mean... REALLY.
