annienau08 asked me about icons! Unfortunately, I don't think I can offer to pick icons for people today; I've got kind of a crazy week ahead and ought to be doing something else right now, but... well, ICONS. And pontification! :-)
Unfortunately, all my posts from the Great Snowmagedden of 2008 (okay, I live in an area where we do not get much snow, and so a few inches were REALLY EXCITING) are locked, but here's an excerpt:
My dad is gonna come get me tonight for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Earlier, I was on the phone with Mom, and they were going back home from the grocery store. I hear Mom shout and start yelling, and then I hear them skidding on the road, a soft thump, and then nothing.
"Mom?" I say. "Mom?!" "ARE YOU OK--"
The phone disconnects.
Yeah. They were fine--they just did a 360 on ice and kept going--, but I was pretty terrified. Anyway, the point is that I watched more weather that week-ish than I ever have in my life, and felt that such a big part of my life needed icons. :-)
Is there anything better than Geek!Sam? This scene ALWAYS makes me laugh, partly because of the disparity between Sam's normal tech-savvy and Geek!Sam's clueless guess--"think invisible"--and mostly because of their expressions.
This was one of the first few icons I picked up, and I *think* I specifically went looking for something pretty that wasn't Stargate-related, because I had NOTHING I could use that wasn't fandom-y at the time. Plus, it's green. And super pretty. Did I mention green?
Sam/Teal'c! This icon makes me RIDICULOUSLY happy. Teal'c's all smug, and Sam's doing her little head duck thing. Plus, they are standing almost on top of each other. They SO OBVIOUS, aren't they? *grins*
Teal'c/Vala! Okay, so I have to admit that while I do like Daniel/Vala, Teal'c/Vala is just full of squee and happiness. That moment in Line in the Sand where Vala runs up to him and jumps straight into his arms completely sealed the deal for me--that is, if the little hip bump when they were playing basketball hadn't. There's just such joy between them, as well as an understanding about their pasts, I think.
Sam and Thor have a deep and abiding respect respect for each other, and their love is totally canon, too (link goes to a Sam/Thor picspam). I mean, yeah, Jack and Thor like each other as friends, but do they ever hug? Has Thor cooked for Jack? Has Jack ever gotten to blow up an Asgard ship? Plus, Amanda Tapping confirmed it at a con where she totally wasn't joking at all.* That's right. *nods sagely*
*She probably was.
