holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Default)
Today was a fairly typical Saturday--woke up too early, cleaned all the things, did some laundry, realized that yes, I really should go to the store to return something and get food, lost time shopping, returned home and finally decided to purchase a nook, cooked food, and put in a few eps of TV.

Which, of course, is Sanctuary these days.

'Instinct'
This was a good, solid monster of the week ep. I don't really have much more to say about it, but I did like the glimpse of Ashley-the-girl in the midst of her being an extremely competent agent. Henry also = love. :-)

'Revelations, Part 1'
Dude. The James/Helen subtext is spilling out all over the place, isn't it? And Watson testing Will to make sure he was good enough. Hee! Will's kind of an adorable fanboy about The Five, too. Blah blah blah plot.

Will: And what's your power--just showing up for the meeting after 135 years?

Helen: I'd like to see you do it.

Hah! Touche, Helen.

I do like the transportation effect they use for Druitt. It seems jarring without being too drawn-out. /random aside

Gregory is rather a pain in the ass. I do love how Helen won't tell him about retrieving the source blood. Very much like a kid caught with her hand in a cookie jar.

'Revelations, Part 2'
Blah blah blah evil boss lady talking about survival. Where did the Cabal even come from?

*excavating the entrance* Oh, those dratted styrofoam rocks.

Watson leaning on Druitt! Aww and eesh.

Okay, they all know Watson's heading downhill… except maybe Helen. Aww.

Will's a great guy. It sure takes someone special to get naked with an attractive woman to help her feel better.

Nikola's test looks amazingly painful. Ow ow ow. He certainly is an "acquired taste."

Oh, MAN. Helen's expression when she realizes it wasn't John who took the blood, but it was ASHLEY. It's just so devastated. Man.

The bit of mourning is that my external hard drive is probably dead. It's making a clicking noise and... not working. :-( Thankfully, most of it WAS a backup, so that's good, at least. I think some of my pictures are only on there, though, and that's really too bad. Hopefully it will work for a little while to get them off. We'll see.

I have been cruising on by via network the last few days and have been \o/ \o/ all over the place when I caught a glimpse of your Sanctuary reaction posts. :D

I thought I'd drop by in a comment and let you know that there is a new Sanctuary newsletter at LJ [livejournal.com profile] sanctuary_news but I've also created a syndicated feed of it for DW users here in case you are interested. :-)
Sanctuary fandom seems to be coalescing a little bit more now that season 3 has happened and gone on hiatus which is kind of neat to see and be a part of. :D

and oh. Helen/James. Yes to that. I'm quite fond of Peter Wingfield in that role.

it's really amazing how the show progresses! I never thought I'd fall so hard for it and yet I have. There's just so much to love! Revelations I and II/End of Nights I and II are some of my favorite episodes of the whole show, it's just such an epic storyline! They do epic so well... and they just get better at it!

Oh, god, if I had been drinking when I read that I would have spit water ALL over my computer. I love you.

Glad you were safely away from spitable liquids. *g*

I try so hard to like Will and every time I get close, he does something SO DUMB that I just can't.

(In this episode, it's not even The Naked, it's the part where he and Watson "find" the Ziggurat using the power of their brains even though they have a MAP and it would be REALLY, REALLY OBVIOUS because, ruined or no, IT'S A FREAKING ZIGGURAT. [/archaeological nit-picking])

I mostly like Will... but he sure can be dumb sometimes.

And yes, "finding" the Ziggurat is hilariously silly.

I was all "Seriously? THAT'S YOUR LOGIC?" (which is funny, because John says almost exactly the same thing later). We used to do that WITHOUT A MAP for FUN during breaks of my INTRO TO ARCHAEOLOGY class. *head desk*

I have the weirdest realism problems with this show. ;)

(Also, with Will it's mostly the pants. Or lack thereof. I just...he's too pretty. I find him creepy.)

I think a better way to look at it is that the show has the weirdest realism problems. Or... okay, for a show with a basic premise that is dubious at best, it has realism problems?

...

I think I'm going to stop there--as much as I adore Sanctuary, realism is not its strong suit.

*really needs more Sanctuary icons*

Oh lordy, the gong show at the end of season two where Helen gets ousted by a "unanimous" vote that somehow included Declan, Ravi AND Pili (not to mention the Japanese dude)? *tears out hair*

Me too. And I have, uh, a few of them already. :)

One of my friends and I think the Sanctuary writers need to have one more good beta before they start shooting. Really, people--you should have caught these kinds of things!

Also--that is a BRILLIANT icon. ♥

Clearly, THEY SHOULD HIRE US.

Thank you. It seemed appropriate. :)

I have often thought that I'd make a great beta for TV shows. *g*
