Carter vs Sun, Carrot Soup, and 2010

If you're the kind of person who likes nearly impossible choices (but not necessarily impossible ones), then there's fun for you at the final round of sf_marchmadness today! It's Sam Carter versus Aeryn Sun--a very good matchup, indeed!

I am going to make carrot soup tonight, and I'm currently debating about adding the non-orange carrots I have to the mix. I think it might make it look disgusting, but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

My SG-1 rewatch is still going strong. I just finished 2010 this morning and I still really like the episode, even though I get why people maybe don't like the episode. It's an interesting look at the breakdown of a team--even though the actual breakdown happens off-camera--and it really exemplifies why SG-1 works in the field:

1. They aren't above making mistakes (obviously), but they don't let fear of those mistakes cripple them.
2. When the time comes to act, they recognize it and act.

It's a little chilling, in some ways, because their job is to act, and when mistakes happen, they're usually BIG ones. In some ways, their job is fixing the mistake they made LAST time, all the way back to Jack' original trip through the 'gate.

Also, Kinsey is an ass.

And you are so right about Kinsey.

I'm betting that a) it's too late, because you've already made the carrot-inclusiveness decision and that b) adding the weird purple ones and yellow ones won't make that much difference, because in my experience, heating lessens the color somewhat, and so probably the orange ones with shout down the other colors anyway.

You're right--it was too late, and you're ALSO right that the color came through pretty well anyway. I tried all of them individually, and they were all delicious and carroty, so I figured that color was a secondary concern. *g*

Non-orange carrots tend to have more flavor, I find. I'd add them. But then carrot soup never looks good to me.

Yesterday I saw someone say Sam Carter was in the finals and I got all excited and went over to vote and...then I saw that it was Sam Carter vs. Aeryn Sun and I just completely froze up. I mean, I love love love love Sam but I just can't vote against Aeryn.

oh man, I totally froze up too! what a hard choice. I mean, Sam Carter is a bit more epic in scale (blowing up suns, saving the world multiple times -- even saving the universe too!) But then Aeryn Sun is just *so* badass. HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY CHOOSE, lol! :)

I thought Sam vs. Magnus was kind of epic, though.

I'm in the middle of season 9 on a rewatch I've been doing for what seems like forever. The Vala episodes were so much more fun now that I've seen Farscape. All the banter between Vala and Cam just made me giggle.

Season 9 has a lot of fun banter, and places where they almost kinda mostly don't go there (as far as Farscape references are concerned). :-)

ooh, I'd say throw in the funky colored carrots... but then, I'm the kind of person who tends to be delighted if her soup ends up looking weird - as long as it tastes good... :)

I'm doing a rewatch too, and I'm now partway through Season 3. I recently finished "Rules of Engagement" and man that episode is so full of team-humor win! I particularly like Jack calling Hammond, "my lord" *g*

I tried all the different colors, and they were all carroty and awesome, so I decided that in they went! The color turned out pretty good, though maybe a bit darker than otherwise. More importantly, the soup was delicious!

How about you roast the non-orange carrots and chop them up to serve on top of the soup as a garnish? Atop, perhaps, a small dollop of creme fraiche??

Hmm. That would have been nice, too, but I ended up using them all in the soup, and it turned out really well! It's a little darker than otherwise, I think, but very tasty.
