YOU GUYS.

This show, it is SO GREAT. I just finished watching Desperate Measures and Wormhole X-Treme and Proving Ground, and I love it so much it HURTS.

1. I love how Desperate Measures is not "Team rescues Sam from really, really stupid people," but "Team helps Sam rescue herself from really, really stupid people." (Look, the really really stupid people should know better or at LEAST be more cautious, but whatever. Sam kicks ass the whole ep, even if she does get captured by two (three?) very questionable "ninjas.")

2. Wormhole X-Treme? It made me laugh on a not great day, and it just has so many fun, meta-y things. I don't think I'd seen this episode since the Sanctuary season.. two(?) ender with the rapid-fire Zap-zap-zap bit that goes on for two years (at LEAST), and when I got to that part of THIS ep, I just laughed and laughed and laughed and had to lean against the wall to keep from sliding into an absurd little puddle of laughing fish.

3. Watching Proving Ground while knowing what's going on is also pretty hilarious, mostly because there are all sorts of nifty tells throughout the whole Foothold Scenario. Also: Daniel on the phone with Jack and making sure he's not supposed to get shot this time is brilliant.

1. Yeah, and then there she is in the basement, saving Jack's ass. The really, really stupid people also should have been quaking in their boots because of this [see icon], and that's before they even consider that they are taking on Sam Carter, Daniel, and Teal'c as well. Really, really stupid people are really, really stoopid.

2. I love it when shows send up other shows (which Stargate does all the time) but when they send up themselves, it's even better. Besides, I find nebbishy little Martin Lloyd interacting with Jack to be both endearing and very amusing.

3. I also like Sam gently admonishing him for getting his "wound" all over her lab, not to mention the discussion of the n00bs in the commissary. And, yeah, the bit with Daniel earnestly trying to get off easy this time while Jack is just eeeeevil!!! is delightful.

Oh yes. The thing Stargate does really quite well, IMO, is that Sam is always treated as an Air Force Major first, by her commanding officers. In most Hollywood action movies, if the male hero(es) rescued a woman, it would be all "here, put this coat on, you're safe now, don't worry, we'll shield you while we get you out of here." In Stargate, it's "You okay? Here, have a gun, let's go get the bastards." She's straight back into the action, because she can cope with that. And no one makes a big deal about it.

SQUEE!

That is all. :)

Except to say that your SG-1 joy puts a grin on my face every. single. time.

I can't help myself! It's too much fun. :-)

I just got to Daniel's hilarious floaty armbands! This is the main thing I remember from Summit, yes.

Me, too, Fig!

Keep enjoying SG1, and sharing those thoughts with the rest of us!

The best thing about rewatching now is playing Stargate Actor Bingo and seeing how very young some of these people were. (I have no concept of time having passed when I rewatch - I think there might be a time dilation field around Cheyenne Mountain). Did you catch Allesandro Juliani at the end of the last episode of Fringe? I saw him in Scorched Earth again not too long ago and was all "Dude! You grew up!" lol.

Hmm... who was he in Scorched Earth? The Ship?

But yes! Actor bingo is so much fun. SO many people guest starred on Stargate, so that makes it worth hours of entertainment. Every time I watch, I spot someone new!
