First, I have not forgotten about the meme responses I still owe a couple of you from my last post. Once I have those done, I'll do a master list to all of them. (I just have to say, though, that this meme was a fabulous idea, because it got me out of the whole "But I've already written that idea!" rut, and was much lower pressure than actually posting fic.)
Second, I saw Florence + the Machine this last weekend, which was RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME. Florence Welch is just... RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME. I wanted to sing like, the whole time, but made myself shut up (most of the time) so my neighbors could enjoy the concert, too. *grins*
The only problem was that I would have LOVED to be a lot closer. (IT WAS STILL RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME.)
I'm really glad I got to go, because from Monday up until 10AM the morning of, I wasn't sure I was going. Oh, I'd had the tickets for a month or two, but my friend, T, who was supposed to go with me and keep me company on the 3.5 hour car ride (Look, the closer concert was sold out by the time I knew about it, but 3.5 hours is still way to close not to go), couldn't make it because of some bum coworker who bailed on taking over T's shift that night.
(Look, I get family emergencies, and that things sometimes happen. I'm not saying whoever it was didn't have a good reason, but it better have been a darn good reason, because tickets+long car ride+last minute changes and decisions does not equal low stress situation for me!)
Long story short, I found someone (another good friend, J!) to go with me, drove 3.5 hours there, loved every minute of the concert, and drove 3.5 hours back. I crawled on top of my bed at 3 AM (I was way too warm to crawl into my bed), fell asleep, woke some unspecified length of time later for just barely long enough to roll out of bed and crawl under the covers, and slept the rest of the morning away.
IT WAS GENIUS.
