The parade was Saturday, and I went ahead and caught as much of that as possible, seeing as it was supposed to be HUGE. It was. There were lots of funny people milling about, and lots of really fantastic costumes. I couldn't see everything, but I *did* manage to see the cat nuns. which--what's that about, again?
After that, I parted ways with my fellow parade companion, and booked it to the 11:30 panel with Ellen Muth, who starred in "Dead Like Me," a really awesome show about reluctant "reapers," as in, people who have died whose job it is to take souls of people just before they die. It's horribly darkly funny, and I loves it. The panel was pretty cool, actually--lots of interesting questions, and Muth came across as really intelligent (she better be, as her IQ is high enough for MENSA, apparently), and all in all, I'm glad I went. I had to leave early, however, so as not to miss my divine appointment with....
Claudia Black.
I know y'all are getting tired of hearing this, but she really was fantastic. I'm sad she was late, but--she just absolutely has the talent to make whatever she's talking about interesting, and she was *so* engaging, especially with the fan who got up to say that she'd only been watching Farscape for three weeks, and had already finished the series, that I really didn't mind too much that she had to leave right on time. I would have *loved* to spend the whole rest of the day right there, listening to her talk, but what she gave was fantastic. I was so glad it was just her in the panel, too--it gave us a lot more Claudia time than in the bigger panels!
I was pretty much on cloud nine after that.
I *think* there might have been food in between Claudia Black and the next panel, but I know for sure that there was a LOT of line-waiting.
But we got awesome seats for the Stargate mega-mega panel, which thrilled us to death. There's not much I remember specifically except the first awful question about killing Sam Carter, but we recovered pretty nicely and didn't have too many hiccups the rest of the time. I thought that everyone still seemed pretty energetic, and I was still horribly entranced by The Power of Claudia (though she wasn't there for that panel). One of the things that struck me was how much I loved watching Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig interact--they are so awfully cute when they insult each other!
After that, most of us lj-ers took off for food, and we went to a Mexican place that was surprisingly good. Then we debated going to the Stargate parties--but no one was really too keen on doing many more of the SG fan-run bits, mostly because that night looked like it would be heavy on the slash side of things.
So we took up our customary place in the Marriott bar, and settled in for a nice long chat about live, the universe, fandom, and anything else that struck our fancies.
...and then we all crashed and went to bed.

Date: 2007-09-05 04:38 pm (UTC)From:The cat nuns are most likely a Doctor Who thing. They have cat nuns in a couple of episodes (they evolved from cats... and became nuns... it made sense at the time), and I can't imagine it's a common sci fi idea.
I hope the Sam hater got booed.

Glad you had fun!
