Of course now it's all over the place. (Although if there's a PARTICULAR reference I'm missing, help would be appreciated. Right now my understanding is that it's a cultural joke of some sort.)

My time there makes so much more sense now.

I probably will have pictures to post later on, but I wanted to get this put up ASAP, so Splash can be lazy and link to it, and besides most of my pics this year are costume pics and not all that interesting to people who really don't care about those that much.

I have it broken out by day below. Day one is Thursday, which is when I left. :-)

I'm one of those crazy people who likes to clean before they go on vacation. So last night I did a load of laundry, vacuumed the whole apartment, (and it really does help to have the setting on 'floor' instead of 'hose'), and got out my suitcase so I can start tossing things in its general direction. This morning I started the dishwasher, and I plan on doing my sheets tomorrow night.

I've also realized (again) that it is impossible to only take a small purse and my computer bag on the plane with me, as I insist on taking entirely too many books to read (the only reason I'd really need the Kindle). So the big bag is getting to come after all, because it will have room for at least my journal and the Quaker materials I need to read over before my membership meeting early next month.

I must remember to: 1) look at my list, 2) pack pyjamas, 2) charge my iPod, 3) pack my glasses. I should probably also look at putting more of the university tracks on my iPod. And I should probably bring my charger, too.

The other essential pre-con routine is getting enough sleep each night so that AT the con, I can deprive myself of rest happily, or near enough to.

Okay: Before writing this, I wasn't nervous. NOW I AM.

So, um...Things have Changed, and I accidentally made two DCon08 filters, neither of which look right. Therefore, you must answer a new poll. [Poll #1236975]

Total Price of DragonCon before food and hotel: $600

To put this in perspective, I paid about $800 for flights alone last year.

Help me, guys. I'm not sure I can resist this kind of temptation.

I just want to say, to everyone I met--you are all amazing. I can't tell you guys how much fun I had, or how many people I've bored since returning home about how friendly you were, or how awesome, or how entertaining (all in good ways, I promise), and how I wish that we could just all get together a lot more often. I haven't even touched on most of the wonderful conversations I had with most of you, and I know beanpot is wondering why, when she spent so much time with me, she didn't even hardly make it into the summaries. (She is, by the way, very cool, and very patient with people who can't find their way around hotels). And likethesun2 and abyssinia4077 are all upset because they like, totally put up with rooming with me, too.

All that to say--you guys rock.

Except for annerbhp, because she doesn't like fannish ponies.

There's a part of Sunday's experience that I'm not going to talk about until Friday. Sorry. I have a surprise for a friend I'd like to *keep* a surprise. That's why there's a suspicious void around the late afternoon that some of you already know about. Please do not mention it in comments.
