holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Default)

I am not allowed to look at the s/j list unless I'm already in a good mood. There's nothing specific that set me off--just the general tone, and the feeling that at any moment, people who are probably perfectly nice irl were going to turn into rabid wolves online.

Damn you, spammers, phishing for my information and pretending to be Amazon. And photo-manipulation that magazine people lie about--sure, you didn't "slim" America Ferrera. Much. And what about the other changes you clearly made to the photo? I'm sorry, but necks don't tilt that way in real life, and skin looks...a lot more like skin than whatever that is.

People? Please stop assuming we want to see super-skinny people all the time. I like variety. I like real. I love real. I hate plastic-looking skin, fake tans, and eye-color-changing.

I love tan lines, the smell of sunscreen, badly-applied toenail polish, and windswept hair.

I love showers. I love sun, and rain, and my gigantic umbrella that I will be using shortly to take the mail to the post office at 3:30pm every day. I love that there's a motorcycle that takes up an entire, valuable parking space in my apartment complex. I love that I live five minutes from work.

I love my brother, who loves dancing, even though everyone teases him about it. I love my fandom, except when some of the fans are stupid. I love my new sparkly, happy shirt, even though I'm going to lazer tag tonight and it's clearly ridiculous for it.

I love flip-flops. I love that I ran a little, today, and I will run a little Sunday, and Tuesday, etc, until maybe I can run a whole mile without stopping for the first time in my life.

I love you, reader, because you put up with me and my crack!fic and my lack of apocafic and my lack of SW fic (yes, this means you, KR). (and Ivy. and Sticksy. and Others too numerous to mention). I love you, flist, because you are, mostly, sane-ish, and because you never get me down, except when you don't post, but that's mostly because it's Friday, and I understand. I really do.

I feel better now.

The second part of this post is much better than the first.

I'm not planning on turning into a rabid wolf anytime soon ;) Though I'm also not part of the mainline J/S thing, either, but I'm sure many of them will remain sane.

We love a lot of the same things, but no surprise there. I love that my dog is barking in my ear for his dinner. About an hour early.

Have fun at lazer tag!

Sounds about what my stomach is doing to me. :-)

Thanks for the reassurance. You never know when that list is going to turn ugly, but I've not yet seen real ugliness in my flist.

As I have nothing to do with the S/J list and wasn't able to meet people irl, I may be safe. And I'm not a rabid wolf of any variety, last time I checked.

Ranting is good for the soul anywho.

Yes, as long as it gets left behind after a while. Thanks for listening!

I love that one day you *will* run that mile and it will blow your mind.

I love that I ran a bunch today and it totally justified eating a whole pint of ice cream over two days.

Yummy.

I'll believe this when I see it, but I'm getting closer!

And no one should ever have to justify ice cream. It's ICE CREAM.

Oh, honey. Don't go into the crazy!

I was tricked/lured/whatever by the idea that there was humorous crazy just a click away! (And I was mad about fan-mocking, but that's another story, and not really fun).

Better, now.

I haven't been able to go to the S/J list without having my BP elevate in a looooong time. I'm S/J all the way, but I hope not so rabid that I make people angry. (Tho' I did have to apologize once for making an S/D fan uncomfortable and afraid to post their predilection on one list for fear of teasing; I'm much more careful now.)

I LOVE your crack!fic. I am HERE for the crack!fic.

I promise not to turn into a nut any time soon (the day I start taking this fandom too seriously is the fay I will leave!).

AND YES to the real people thing. Real people are much more interesting than plastic. When will they learn?

*hugs* Ranting is good for the soul :D

When will they learn?

I dunno. But the day a normal-sized celebrity isn't something to comment on is the day I will stop writing crack!fic.

*laffs*

(And thank you. I'm here for my crack!fic, too. ;-)

I love that you took a moment to write down everything that you love. It's amazing what little things can outweigh the TOTAL INSANITY of the many. Remember, that list exists to be mocked, so just imagine them all as socketpuppets. I know, sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. :D

Today, it wasn't enough. So I hosted my own little love meme. ;-)

I love so much--sometimes I forget, but it's all there, just waiting to be rediscovered.

...Even though I'm terrible at creating wank. I just wasn't designed for it. Sorry. I feel like I let you down by not proclaiming my virulent love for the ponies loudly enough. ;-P

I'm...thinking I loosed a very dangerous thing on the world...and I really need to write that part of the report.

:-D

So was I! So, let's see... Here's my list of fanfic I need to work on:

1) The apocafic of doom.
2) Dick Solo (Glass Falcon)
3) Two "Deceptive..." stories, as penance because I suck...at...something...
4) The team ficathon
5) The other ficathon
6) Passing/Morning

I like that your post borders the 'violently positive' in the face of things that irritate you. ;)

It's so true--and so on purpose. My ranting was starting to get me down, so I decided that I'd have to be more positive. :-D

This post and my shiny disco ball shirt of awesomeness helped me through a dark ten minutes this afternoon.

Dude, it should also help if you remember that a lot of people might not actually pay attention to that list anymore, they're just dead weight.

And then there's me, and I'm only there to read and mock on my lj.

Also, I came home to a surprise party from my roommate and Ashley and Dave, and now we are watching Full Metal Panic. *gleeful*

Yay! That sounds like fun...

And yeah, it does help that not a lot of people read the list--makes me feel better about the state of everyone's sanity, at least.

Whoo-hoo! that is awesome! I have a friend who could never run a mile before and did a 5-K last year and it was awesome. *waves pom-poms for you*

Sounds like a fantastic set of things. Go you and your friday and your sparkly shirt-wearing for laser tag!

My sparkly shirt-wearing didn't make it to lazer tag, sadly...but we played air hockey, so that's good!

Thanks for the encouragement, too!

I don't know that I've actually ever read the S/J list - I think I have this instinctual recoil reflex that prevents me from witnessing the rabid crazy first hand :D

And flip flops (or thongs as we call them here)! Another few weeks and I'll be able to wear them. Woohoo!!

heh heh! I should be so lucky to have such a reflex. I think I should just stay far, far away.
