holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Default)
You know when you're having a moderately bad day, but it seems much, much worse, and you know it's your hormones (sorry, P), and you keep telling yourself that everything's okay, that your boss isn't going to fire you, that he's given no indication that he even thinks less of you because of things that you know aren't your fault, and that he's a really nice, decent guy, and that just because another company is stupid doesn't mean that you are, too?

Here are some things that made me smile today, even if they didn't drown out the Nameless Dread That Lodges in the Soul Once in a While without Reason:

1) It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I didn't miss it.
2) [livejournal.com profile] pepper_field wrote fic for Talk Like a Pirate Day.
3) [livejournal.com profile] annerbhp posted more String Theory, which is my fannish crack.
4) [livejournal.com profile] nandamai introduced me to lolthulhu.
5) KR offered to write me fic. Which I probably won't see today. But still!!!

All worthy of much thanks.

Arr. (Oh, for... I can't seem to stop.)

I know the feeling. *hugs* Talking like a pirate, reading fic, and looking at lolshrodinger (man, I need to read some more philosophy - the bits I understood made me crack up, though) sounds like a good way to deal with it.

No one in my office had heard of TLAP Day. Now they all think I came up with it, which I really didn't want. Very embarrassing. *g*

So--did your office get into it? Because mine didn't, but my boss made a half-hearted attempt which was almost funnier than anything.

My lot were sadly inadequate at the pirate-speak - worse, they seemed to think that, as I'd suggested it, I should be the one doing it. And when put on the spot like that, all I could think of was "Arrrr". *g*

I dunno. Next time, I think I'll give them all more warning, and send around a few examples from the TLAP website.

But their reactions on hearing about it was worth the embarrassment. "Talk Like A what?"

I'm sure this will solve the problem. *nods*

I keep trying to get my officemates to dress up for Halloween. The only thing is...I don't want to if I'm the only one...

Oh, I know those days, my friend. (I have been tempted to beat my muse with a petrified tree this week, the kind of rage that lingers.)

Glad I could even bring a smidge of happiness (though why a fic about insane torture would make you smile, I...well, come to think of it, I totally understand.)

Hey--it's fic. And YOUR fic. And STRING THEORY. The torture is just a bonus!

Muses need to join bad hormones somewhere nasty. Like Netu.

My muse would probably *like* Netu. Ungrateful, good for nothing @#$#%^!

I have written you two fabulous paragraphs ... on my laptop. Which is not here.

I will get your cheer-up comment-fic up by the time I meet you on Saturday. Promise. ;)
