holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (oops)
First of all, a huge congratulations to everyone on my flist (or reading this) who won a Stargate Fan Award! I am hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] pepper_field today and practicing my dramatic flouncing. *grins*

Really, though, there are a few stories up there that I am very glad won, just because they were so awesome (and, you know, I might have voted for them *cough*). All of you fic-writers rock, and make my flist the wonderful, exciting, and fun (cracky) place it is.

I am wearing new contact lenses today after having glasses for about two weeks. It's a little strange--they're slightly different prescription than my last ones, so it's just...not quite the same. Nice, though--and a lot less heavy than my glasses.

I had braces when I was in junior high, and when I got them taken out, I got two retainers. One was the upper-mouth kind with the metal bar on the outside that you take in and out. (Mine was green, and it was AWESOME to freak my brother out by doing really disgusting things with it involving food.) Anyway, I was told I could stop wearing it and then kept wearing it for a while because my upper mouth was OMG sensitive and my tongue kept tickling me.

But I'm getting distracted. Once my braces were off, they glued a small metal bar behind my front bottom teeth. It's been there for over 10 years--possibly more like 12 or 13. This means that flossing was an interesting endeavor, to say the least. Anyway, last night, I bit into a snickers bar and it snapped off completely. There is extra space in my mouth, and two rough spots of leftover glue. Plus, the backs of my teeth feel really funny!
