I don't know about you, but I really appreciated the clarity over at [livejournal.com profile] lj_policy in their entry today.

It definitely helps lj users know what kinds of material will NOT be banned, although, as always, there are some gaps of interpretation left open. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

It also got me thinking again about the adult content tags, and how I probably ought to try to label some of my more adult entries, at least (I've done a few recent ones, though not consistently). The only problem being the fact that the adult content cut cuts over my more specific ones. Still, I think utilizing the subject heading could potentially solve most of that difficulty.

My reasons for wanting to use the adult cuts are:

1) I actually was a weird youngster and didn't read R-rated or above fic, and appreciated the warning for it.

2) The cut exists for a reason, that being protection of my own journal and lj. I'm assuming here, but if a problem arose, I could make the case that I was trying to be responsible about my content.

Plus, since I archive all my fics off my journal as well as on, I don't feel that it's going to unduly restrict access to someone who really wants to get at them, even if they're underage.

And yes, I know my content is fairly tame. Basically I'm just a worrier.
