@knightedrogue tagged me in this ages ago. I finally got around to it, just like I’ll get around to that fic I owe you, I PROMISE. Probably.
A work that is one of your personal favorites:
Four Walls and a Blaster. I can hear you gasping, @knightedrogue, don’t think I can’t. I was scrolling through my works on AO3 to answer this question and as soon as I got here I knew this was the right answer. I like this one because I think it delivers the angst and hope one-two punch I love so much… and, honestly, because I worked the Noghri AND the Hapans into it. :-)
One that you’re neutral about or don’t like anymore:
There’s one that I’m not sure I posted to AO3 that was a little Vala sketch that I ended up hating as soon as I posted it–mostly because I thought it was kinda mysogynistic. And there’s one I ended up deleting (even though I NEVER do that) that was a genderswap fic I grew increasingly concerned about being inadvertently transphobic.
Your favorite topic and/or aesthetic to work on:
Catharsis, usually regarding relationships. I like that moment of relief, the “Oh for fuck’s sake, FINALLY” that you get with a good fic that you ALMOST NEVER get on TV or in a movie.
The character or pairing that’s easiest to create for:
The pairing or character that’s easiest for me is my current obsession, whatever that is. Right now, that’s… well, I don’t have one. I tend to collect OTPs and put them on my shelf, where they can get a bit dusty. Sometimes I’ll take them down and clean ‘em up, but I really love the first-love feeling with fandoms.
The character or pairing that you love to create for, regardless of difficulty:
…I’m such a fair-weather fan, honestly. This is not making me look good. @knightedrogue, why must you torture me so???
A work that you wish had gotten more attention:
*coughs* All of them. *mutters about self-actualization and not needing attention* Oh! Maybe Operation Eyrie, but let’s be real–OUAT fandom was not ready and may never be ready for Outlaw Swan Queen. (I’m no longer sure I’m ready for it, either, so…)
Among your WIPs or musings, what is taking most of your attention recently?
The dregs of the WIPs for OUAT. Mostly Swan Queen.
Something that took longer or was harder than expected to work on:
All of them, at different stages. But especially the ill-fated WIPs that proved to be out of my reach. RIP, friends.
Something that went faster or smoother than expected:
Two fics, from way back, that just… flowed, were First Flight and Agenothree, which are a crossover between Stargate SG-1 (Sam/Jack) and Dragonriders of Pern, that someone mentioned off-hand and I was CONSUMED BY until I wrote it out. Completely ridiculous and the writing itself isn’t great, but they were so much fun to write because it didn’t really seem like work.
What you would like to improve on:
Writing longer, multi-chapter AUs. I ALWAYS have one for my OTPs and I think only Han and Leia got a couple of them. I still think about the epic season two Sam/Vala AU where they go around being space pirates and the Enchanted Forest AU for Swan Queen that takes the idea of Princess Emma and does away with the idea that she’d grow up close to proper and also has Henry because @shinewithalltheuntold gave me the key to making it work (she may not even remember that conversation… but I do!).
Something you’re proud of about your style:
