Welcome to another drabble-fest. I promise I’m working on longer fic, too…the problem is I’m not very good yet about actually doing the *really* long stuff, which is what I have in my brain. Plus, drabbles are easier to do at work.
067. Snow.
Spoilers: Jonah and Thera
Despite what everyone thought, they didn’t assign people to go to planets covered in snow often. It cost enough, was dangerous enough already without the added bonus of frostbite or lost equipment or just the sheer hassle of snow being tracked next to expensive gate equipment on the return trip.
Jonah and Thera had been improbable enough already. Add in the snow, and the unusually treacherous neighbors, and it should have been impossible for any such people to have existed at all.
Sam allowed herself one bitter though about math, the universe, and statistics, then sealed it off as unsolvable.
068. Lightning.
Note: No spoilers. Part one of three.
095. New Year.
Note: No spoilers. Silly fluff.

068. Lightning.
Note: No spoilers. Part one of three.
Both Sam and Daniel could remember the designations for planets pretty well. Sam had actually made it a game at first—the letters and numbers meant something to her, so it didn’t seem like a waste of time. Daniel picked them up like he picked up languages.
Jack’s descriptions of planets tended toward “the planet with the people who had really big ears,” and the like. Which is why everyone except Sam was shocked when he referred to their latest mission—a planet with unusually numerous and impressive lightning storms—by its designation.
Sam hated that planet. Jack loved it.
069. Thunder.
Note: No spoilers. Part two of three.
Sam had nothing against thunder specifically. She loved to count the seconds in between the strike of lightning and the thunder to estimate how far away it was. The problem with PS5-424 was that the lightning always seemed right above their heads but the thunder would take ages to sound.
It was loud and it startled her. A lot.
In retrospect, Sam thought that as a professional Air Force officer, she probably shouldn’t have squealed and grabbed her CO’s arm. The first time might be excusable, but honestly, she should have been used to it by the third or fourth.
070. Storm.
Note: No spoilers. Part three of three.
It was pouring and there was some really sweet lightning just a little bit east of his house. Jack’s fingers itched to pick up the phone and get some really good quality teasing in to Carter. It was the kind of thing he could do to Daniel without anyone thinking twice, which just really wasn’t fair.
He imagined how the conversation would go:
“Hey, Carter, some good quality weather we’re having today.”
He would be able to hear her roll her eyes. “Yes, sir.”
And from there, the conversation could go anywhere. Which was, unfortunately, the point in not calling.

095. New Year.
Note: No spoilers. Silly fluff.
It was New Year’s, and Sam almost missed her chance for the one kiss she really wanted.
The countdown caught her by surprise. Finally, after watching the minutes tick by for the first few hours, she had managed to enjoy herself.
Ten and nine passed before she realized. Eight saw her stock-still, shocked at her lapse. Seven, six, five, four, and three were for frantic looking, dashing, craning her neck to try to find him. Two saw her despair, and she startled at one.
Jack’s hand on her shoulder, his breath in her ear. “I’ve been following you all night.”
