So Killian, the supposedly “fully reformed” villain of the show, is lying by omission to his fiancee. Yep. Good guy. Definitely marriage material.
He was kinda drunk and having a hard time with this. He was going to tell Emma but then she pulls the ring on him. Sorry that he kinda went into shock had to go with the flow. Then didn’t want to ruin a moment that is now one of their biggest yet.
Yeah, narratively that’s on the writers.
But since they decided to have Emma find the ring, I get to critique Hook’s decision to not tell her right then and there. To tell her the truth. To take her aside and say, “I was going to ask you already, but I found out something big, something I needed to tell you,” and go from there. THAT would have been a big moment for CS. I WAS ROOTING FOR HOOK TO DO THE RIGHT THING. I WANTED to eat my words from last week, but Hook did what he has always done–he deferred revealing the truth. TO THE WOMAN HE WANTS AS HIS WIFE.
That undercuts their “big moment” for me.
Also, he didn’t have to be drunk. That was his choice. Just saying.
