I went to the doctor for itchy skin and was given a creme and hydroxyzine. I was told “Take it at night because it’ll make you drowsy.” I read the label, “May cause drowsiness.” I took it last night and slept over 9 hours (very unusual for me) and then WENT BACK TO BED and slept another two hours.
I’m a little worried if I take it tonight I’ll sleep through work tomorrow. Also, I’m not entirely sure it kept me from itching–more like I was just to asleep to notice.

I went to the dermatologist today. Basically they think I’m allergic to scratching, that is to say i have stumbled into a feedback loop of scratching and histamine production. So I have an actual regimen of antihistamines to try for two weeks. I’m cautiously optimistic. And very itchy.
Edit: After some fun times with prednisone, various antihistamines, and a herculean effort to avoid scratching, my itchiness finally basically went away, although it seems to try to flare up now and then.
