I forgot to post last week, even though I'd actually watched and written up thoughts. So... here we are.

DNA Mad Scientist

I never noticed how Aeryn remarks about how overly careful John is about what he eats and drinks. What a lovely detail. (As is John putting his arm around Aeryn and her throwing it off.)

I love that they go ahead and take Pilot's arm. So many shows would have that turn out differently, but not Farscape. They take his arm, and then they all have to deal with the ramifications of that act. I also love that John and Aeryn are the ones aligned in how they feel about that… and the fact that it's probably really easy for them to feel that way, considering they don't have the same thing at stake.

Aeryn, on a planet full of billions of Crichtons. Hehe. But it is a good prompt for her to go back to NamTar to try to find a real place for herself.

There is always a catch with mad scientists.

I notice that although Pilot said he was moving on from his arm being taken, he lashes out at the three of them when it turns out the crystal is useless.

Does John gradually come to realize his understanding from Earth is more relevant than he suspected at first? That people are people no matter what they look like? I'm trying to remember if that's a theme or something I'm superimposing on the show this time around.

They've Got a Secret

How many tiers does Moya have? At least 21…

They're really lucky that D'Argo was the one flushed out into space instead of any of the others.

"Fine, we enslave them [horses]."

John has a good point about chocolate. That one thing alone makes Earth a pretty great place, plagues and suffering notwithstanding.

I know this episode kicks off a whole arc and all, but... I don't have much else to say about it.

Till the Blood runs Clear

In my opinion, Zhaan can have all the photogasms she wants. Mostly because I find it hilarious.

Crichton's pod makes absolutely no sense. It's way too tiny.

I know that the pack idea is outdated and ridiculous, but it makes for a good moment when Crichton can gain the upper hand (for now). I like the way the balance between him and Aeryn shifts all the time. Sometimes, as out of place and weak as Crichton can be, they need his perspective.

Aeryn looks so pleased with herself. She had an idea! She gets to get back at John at the same time!

I can't help it: I love Furlow. There's something about her confident, sarcastic, duplicitous self that appeals.

Rhapsody in Blue

John: you have a Thing for blondes. It's okay. It happens to the best of us. Sex dreams, however, only come to weak males, apparently.

How many times has John's mind already been tampered with? I have already lost count. Delvians manipulating his memory and perceptions barely even registers.

Farscape is just… such a weird show. It's weird in such a weird way, too. There are certain episodes that really strike me that way, and this is one of them. Something about the way the show doesn't use… narrative connective tissue in the way other shows do? I really don't know how to describe it.

Maybe it's just the big grey hair poofs.

Or the music. Could be the music.

*chicken noises* "The translator microbes handle that one?"

I think part of it is that there are all these different pieces and they don't quite fit together. Like, why the twisted root thing? Why Unity? Why sparkly bits on their faces?

FARSCAPE, that's why!
