You know what happens when I take two partial days off lj? Skips in the =140 range on my flist. And you know, I AM crazy, but I actually at least skim most of my flist.

Oh, boy.

So...I was just re-reading some of Pern (*coughs*), and then I went back to my crossover stories that I wrote? OMG MY EYES. I actually couldn't bring myself to read it. I think it's probably just the contrast more than my actual suckage, but it's clear to me that yes, I AM better at writing now. Sheesh.

On the other hand, I have more respect for Anne McCaffrey again. Oh! And I found out that she relaxed her anti-fanfic/fandom stance in, er...2004. May all authors come to her sensible conclusion.

I attended a wedding this weekend, left a dress at a friend's house, watched The Neverending Story again, and generally enjoyed myself! I LOVE The Neverending Story, by the way. It brings back so many wonderful memories, dreams, and neuroses. That wolf is SCARY, dude. Also: I totally wanted to 1) be or 2) be friends with the Childlike Empress.

But your Pern crossover stories are made of win. So much guilty fun. I adore them!

I won't say they aren't! But I think perhaps I was expecting them to align with what I had in my head when I went to re-read them, and was surprised.

The NeverEnding Story re-watch was bomb, friend. Seriously, though, those nightmares ... I had one last night. The wolf ate me. And then a Han Solo version of Edward Cullen saved me, and then called me Taeyla and left me.

Fandom has taken over my life AND my subconscious!

Oh, my god. I'm glad you're awake now.

The Pern stories, you know I still love them. FUN.

And the Neverending Story, omg! I haven't watched that in ages and ages. I love it. You've been giving me a huge movie queue with your recent posts, lol.

I have been watching a lot of movies recently, haven't I?

*whistles innocently*

Eee! The Neverending Story! I love that movie so, so much.

And I love your Pern/SG-1 crossovers. Of course, I've never actually read any of the Pern books, so I might not be the best judge of these things. :P

Isn't the Neverending Story wonderful!? The characters are so, so brilliant, and the fantastic elements are really imaginative.

Thanks about the Pern stories. *grins* That whole world is just so much fun. Even though all the characters *are* Sues.

The sequel--well, the very next one wasn't completely awful, though re-watching this one has given me new appreciation for it over the second. The third does not exist. We shall not speak of it again.

I...don't know if I've ever seen the never ending story....

Really? Oh, man! Eighties classic fairy-tale story. Boy meets book. Boy reads book. Boy re-learns the value of having imagination, saves princess and magical world.

It's genius!

Thank God for filters.

I thought your Pern stories were great - I mean, what a fun way to AU our Stargate characters! Also - how else are you going to grow as a writer if you don't take a chance and try wacky stuff?

I haven't seen NS in *years* - I loved that movie as a kid. Glad you had a good weekend!

i've never gotten the hang of filters. I MADE a couple, but don't end up using them.

I managed to read past the first few paragraphs and have concluded that I really always need to beta those first few paragraphs, because I seem to get better once I'm in the story proper.

I swear I'm turning into Magic 80's Movie Nostalgia Woman over here. Can that be a superpower?

I so know what you mean about the flist. Oh man, it would take days for me to catch up. But hey, like you I try to read as much as I can before totally giving up.

And it sounds like you had a fantastic weekend!! May the rest of the week be as much fun for you. :)

Thanks! I did catch up, and now I'm kinda...wishing I still had more new stuff to read.

Which is how my flist grew so much in the first place.
