holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Default)

The first time I tried to watch the first season of SG-1, I gave up after five or so episodes; it just wasn’t that interesting to me, and it seemed so cheesy. So I skipped to season two to give it another shot...and got hooked. Now I’ve gone back, and I think I just didn’t watch far enough. Not to mention some of these episodes are pretty important thematically.

So…I don’t know if I’m just oblivious, or if it’s really just not that big of a deal, but I finally discovered that Sam really does say “Holy Hannah.” It amused me to no end when I saw it in fiction, and I’m wondering now if I just never noticed it being said all the time in the show or what. I actually noticed it in a season 10 episode first…but that’s beside the point.

I also have now seen the first episode where Daniel dies. Hee! It was pretty fun, actually. I liked the confusion the other three show when they’re like, “We saw Daniel die; we know he’s dead. But we know he’s alive.” I also love that Daniel’s surprised Jack said nice things at his service.

And beer!

Okay, ending my fannish squeals of glee now.

I think it improved rapidly - it's very cheesy at first (I love it anyway). By the time they get to, oh, 'Torment of Tantalus' or thereabouts, it feels more... like a show that could keep going.

And I always wondered whether they really did sell Daniel's apartment, or if they were just teasing. :D

Personally, I think they were teasing. Because if they managed to clean out his apartment that fast? While I don't doubt they could do it (they are, after all, SG-1), they seemed very distracted. Anyway, if they did, it taught them a valuable lesson: Daniel isn't dead. Ever. Even when he is.

Of course, yes - aside from the fact that it'd have to be the quickest house sale ever in the history of the world, they also got distracted by Sam's vision.

I wonder if the Air Force has space permanently assigned for storing Daniel's stuff whilst he's temporarily not on this plane of existence...

There’s a fic in that somewhere: Daniel’s died/ascended/whatever, write a story about the adventures his stuff has while he’s away.
