holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (Vala)
I couldn't for the life of me come up with anything useful to do with knots, so today I gave up. Instead, I got out my cache of Mardi Gras beads and my Vala action figure (still no Sam--mail is running slow!) and came up with a little illustration of why knots are so important.

(WARNING: these knots don't actually work that well with Mardi Gras beads. Proceed with caution!)

The first picture shows Vala hanging from a loop created by the bowline knot. I think she's planning on using the excess line to crawl down, although that end of the knot is unstable:

In this one, I've managed to trap her by hanging her from a green strand of beads shortened by using the figure eight knots:

And in the last, although having a bit of difficulty at the moment, she is using two lengths of beads joined by the sheet bend to move toward the edge of the room where she can use the leftover Christmas lights to climb down to safety:

Also, I now have a profound respect for people who do action figure theater. This was entirely too hard. And my pictures kind of suck.

Okay. It's time to get you crocheting and over to Ravelry, because you obviously have waaaaay to much time on your hands. :)
