But I will suffer, and will not crack under the pressure, and I *will* pay more attention to what episodes are being squeed upon on my friends page so I do not get (too many) spoilers.

Yeah, right.

Stargate, come back to America! There are people who love you here, promise!

And one question: I've run across green sheep a few times in Stargate fanfic...anybody know what's up with that? Where did these green sheep come from?

And I hereby vow to post at least two fanfics by the end of the week. Because they are done, and I am just procrastinating the final run-throughs and posts.

The only green sheep I've run across was in a story by Jojo, called 'Too Many Generals' - http://www.randomleaves.com/stargate/index.html. Green woolly sheep-like things with eight legs and nasty sharp pointy teeth. That story was written in 2002, so perhaps she started it? Could be - it's damn funny.

That's my 2 cents.

I believe I've run across a couple others recently. I think they're just copying Jojo (though it's possible they don't remember they're copying Jojo).

It gets scary when you can't remember if something actually happened on the show or if it was from a well written story.

Sometimes I have to re-watch an episode to see what really happened.

There's been a couple of things, as I was writing them, that I would stop and think, "Okay, I think I just accidentally stole that from Jojo/nanda/MV/etc."

I accidentally stole a web design from Jojo once. I kept thinking, "This thing I'm creating, it looks so familiar ..."

And how do you *not* steal stuff accidentally from Jojo/Nanda/MV?

Is it bad that I only started reading in this fandom a few months ago, and have now read all of Jojo's stories at least twice, and some (Just Don't Eat the Cake, Ad Infinitum, Overwhelming Coolness, Missing Something, Whoops--okay, I'll stop there), more than...oh, twenty?

I should really make a list of my all-time favorite fics...there are just so many darn talented authors in this fandom!

Oh, and you are not giving yourself nearly enough credit, because I've hit your website more than once myself.

I deliberately cited 'Whoops' in a story, once - just a throwaway line about those chocolate cookie things - and it was instantly spotted.

Whenever I try and write apocafic, it comes out sounding like a poor imitation of someone elses's stuff. So I don't think I'll ever finish one, much though I'd like to - it doesn't come naturally, I can't find my own angle on it.

I would absolutely *love* to get my hands on one of those chocolate cookie things.

I found myself hitting the same barrier you mentioned with apocafic with the Robot!SG-1. I wrote about 1,000 words and then suddenly slapped my forehead: "This is just what everybody else says...only mashed together oddly!" So even though I like some of it, I decided not to try to finish it, because it really can't go anywhere new. Maybe because we have a set canon to work with or something...

And I probably will never write a mini!fic, because I think the other ones I read covered everything I could say.

Yeah, I guess it's limiting. I mean, writing Stargate fic is setting a limit - there's a certain set of characters, a certain universe... A very *big* universe, thank god, but then adding apocalypses, or robot!SG-1, or mini!SG-1, adds another layer of someone's-been-here-already...

I wonder how many good variations on familiar themes we never get to read because the writers are self-critical enough to know when they're being a bit unoriginal...

I have seen green sheep around recently, too! I know I have...I just don't remember where. Let's just credit Jojo (because that's the first place I saw it, and the oldest incident) with it, and call it good.

I love those green sheep. :-D I have decided: Jojo gets credit for green sheep...in Stargate.

And I thought parts of Farscape were downright psychadelic. Hmm ...

*All* of Farscape is psychedelic. *Parts* of SG-1 are psychedelic. This is important to remember, so as to not confuse the two fandoms. Although honestly, Claudia Black does a great job of underscoring the difference; I could tell Vala from Aeryn at any distance...and I don't even have blue eyes. ;-)
