holdouttrout: not your ordinary fish (abstinence doesn't work)
Everyone needs to admire my new icon, which I acquired from the very nice [livejournal.com profile] squishtoy, during the last few day's debacle about reproductive stupidity, wherein people clearly don't think about the long-term effects of their policy changes--OR--think that we should all live under Old Testament Law.

I don't, for the record.

[livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077's carbon 14 fic, not only has great drama, but renders a scientific concept entertaining.

Yesterday, I learned that pork bellies and pork belly futures are heavily traded commodities. I mean...really? Really?

This youtube video rocks. I promise, it's not a rickroll. No, it's a fantabulous video game spoof, done with elaborate sets, music, and a rodent. Live-action. Hee.

Next week I have vacation! Which means I will be working on my remix fic, reading a lot, attending a day-long conference on torture--not how to do it, but about it, and yes, I know this makes me a dork--possibly getting my hair cut, take my car in, and generally taking care of business. This also might mean time to go to the beach, but I'm not sure yet about that.

Yea, I don't get the pork bellies thing either. LOL...

I guess it kinda makes sense, since it's food, but even so...it seems like an odd thing to have particular emphasis made about it.

*shrugs*

The world is weird.

Pork bellies make TONS of sense...where do you think we get bacon from?

Mmmmm, bacon!

ext_2131: picture of a fish with lots of green (Default)
Only Americans get bacon from pork bellies. I still think it's weird.

but bacon *is* amazing, so...

Date: 2008-07-18 10:58 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] pcrackenhead.livejournal.com
Well, Americans and most of the westernized world actually do, the other stuff is cut like Canadian bacon, which is really its own thing.

The stuff is also monstrously popular in China, braised pork belly, cooked low and slow in a savory sauce. I saw a dozen or so succulent variations on Iron Chef Japan.

It must be nearing dinner time, now I'm completely hungry after talking about puerco. ;)

*Blinks at that icon and dies.* Um, but in that particular case, nothing else was going to work anyway, so there may be a logical flaw in the point. Not that logic plays a large role in the issue at hand, but still.

I believe the logical flaw is part of the humor of the icon.

And what Christian girl *hasn't* missed a period and thought, even briefly, "Oh, shit. Not ME!"

Huh. Thanks for the new paranoia.

Huh. Thanks for the new paranoia.

I think, though, that if you don't get a message from God first, you're probably safe. Right? Right?

;-)

*snort* That's exactly what I just backspaced over. So yeah, I'd think so.

That video. Is the awesome-est thing since they invented awesome. (Or at least the awesome-est thing since this morning, lol.) Hee! I must now go email it to my entire nerdly family.

The icon is hysterical, too.

Yay for vacation! Have some fun amidst the business.

I knew people here would like the video. I just can't imagine spending so much time on it!

I aim to have at least a little bit more fun than my description of next week implies. Sheesh! I sound so boring!

Not boring!! I say so, therefore it must be true. ;)

I don't know what scares me more. That this is the present in the U.S. or that this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2y8dYwq01g

could be the future.

Oh, yes. I definitely know what you mean on that one. Sheesh.

A) Your icon rocks. Yes, there's some irony for you.

B) That video is crazy! The music scared me when it started. My laptop is usually pretty quiet, heh.

C) I saw the McCain thing on AC360 the other night. They were basically pointing out where designated spokespeople screwed up and the BC vs. Viagra was one of those cases.

I can't tell you how upset the whole issue of sexuality education and women's reproductive rights makes me. Because YES, isn't it logical to *educate* young people with facts rather than a bunch of slanted hooey about it? Done correctly, young women wouldn't find themselves facing the abortion issue at all! Grah!

Because bottom line, young people will be young people just like they always have. And that includes having sex, no matter *what* they've been told.

Yep. ESPECIALLY when our marriage ages keep going up--30 years is a long time to be a virgin!

You ARE exciting!

Better chemistry through anthropomorphization :)

BEST ICON EVER!

I loves it, yes I does.

Chemistry was pretty awesome, anyway, and the anthropomorphization just makes it that much better.
