Human Interaction (Sarcasm)
Dec. 21st, 2016 07:18 pmI keep thinking about an interaction I had with a friend relatively recently. I made a sarcastic comment, deliberately using my best sarcastic tone…
…and I could tell my friend didn’t get it. I said, as simply as I could, “I was being sarcastic,” and they immediately brightened and understood and laughed and thanked me for clarifying.
I don’t know if my tone was drier than I thought or if this friend doesn’t hear sarcasm or if they just had a moment where their brain didn’t get it. What I do know is that I felt SO GOOD that I was able to clear up their confusion that it keeps popping up as if I’m imprinting this tool deep into my brain so I can do a similar thing next time.
