First and most importantly,
jacksamfriends has tons of fun, delightful, gen Jack and Sam fanfic for the reading. I'm extremely amused by many of the stories, and have found others to be quite touching, and I haven't finished them all yet but plan to soon, very soon.
I'm going back for another physical therapy session today, which is fine except they're really expensive. However, I do see a marked improvement from last week, which could just be time, but I think my back really was out of whack and so...*shrugs* I'll go back today, but I think I'll cancel the other two.
I've had just the most insanely packed week--last week wasn't even this crazy, and I still felt like I was running around without a head. The good thing about being busy is that my time management skills improve like whoa. That, my friends, is why I haven't posted much. I've been trying to keep my head above water, and reading was just about as much as I could handle.
I signed back up for my French class that was canceled only not, which reminds me I need to check to see if I paid for it, and I think this term is going to be better than last term. I'm definitely understanding a lot more of the words, and I think this book is arranged more for my mind--orderly and a bit more studious, whereas the last one was a little more scattered. I also hunted down a few audio links for French, so I could start listening to things instead of just reading them, because the pronounciation does make sense, but it's also very complicated, and I know I'm not remembering certain things well enough.
Still to go this week: Church Meeting to determine the fate of a house on the property, hosting a party for my harp-playing friend, and going to a dance performance for another friend.
Writing has also been a pain, though I've managed to do it every single night. I haven't written anything on the two things I'm supposed to be writing at all, though, and I'm starting to get nervouse.
Okay,
Lost.
Oh, Lost. With your Ben (who I'm growing to actually like as a character, in some ways), and your Locke, and your Island Monster that judges people and lets Ben live and then Ben looks so astonished and...almost upset. Like, crushed. I can't believe I'm still watching this show, and I'm even more incredulous that I still like it. Oh, and thank you for not killing Penny. Amen.
I also watched the Unusuals--well, half-watched, to be honest--and I liked it, I think. Interesting characters, although as with most first episodes, the pacing felt a bit off to me. I'm kinda only vaguely remembering anything except that Michael from Lost was there and Amber Tamblyn had really bright lips, and there was some mention of a guy named Kawalski. I'm pretty sure, anyway, which means that I can conceivably cross it over with both Lost AND Stargate, although this Kawalski was...well, not the greatest guy in the world. I thought it was funny, though, so I'll probably watch it again next week, as it's convenient to remember that it's on right after Lost.
Oh, and Better off Ted was hilarious. Thank you, Bean.

Date: 2009-04-09 04:26 pm (UTC)From:So glad Desmond and Penny are okay (well, relatively, Desmond wsn'at very dead when he whaled on Ben). Ben isn't as upset about living as he is the Island used his daughter to tell him off about trying to kill Locke (After twice resurrecting him, I think the Island's getting a bit tired of it all).
I liked the Unusuals. It wasn't as Unusual as I thought, and I still think Amber's a bit young for the role (because she keeps screaming Joan to me.) It reminded me of kind of Barney Miller meets Hill Street Blues, but updated. Considering how much dreck is getting on the schedule, I hope it makes it.
And yay! Kawalsky!
Better off Ted scares me (don't tell Bean).

What do you mean I should do something logical like look at her birthdate at IMdB?
Oh, check out what Ryan of the Chicago Tribune had to say about Lost last night.
What we do know about Smokey is that it's been around since at least the time of the ancient Egyptians. We saw an image of Smokey with a representation of Anubis, the god of the dead, who has a dog's head. You'll recall that, in a flash to the distant past, we got a glimpse of the island's giant statue of what appeared to be an Egyptian god. (Side note: Anubis and the temple were not the only source of "Stargate SG-1" vibes I got from this episode -- how about the village that we saw in the opening scene? That tent village and the man arriving on horseback reminded me of a million "Stargate" episodes in which the team arrives in some medieval-looking village or other.)
Yay, you got the debrief out (with a lot of gen stories to code!) *tries to look guilty at that*

Date: 2009-04-10 03:01 pm (UTC)From:Hah! That reviewer is awesome. I must admit I thought "STARGATE" in the temple, but yeah, the man on horseback really is pretty hilarious taken with that in mind. (Crossover potential abounds, y'all. A THIRD Stargate on Earth. "Hi, we're SG-1, and we've come to rescue you. You haven't been on Earth since you crashed." Bwa ha ha.)
I'd definitely put up with coding for Jack and Sam gen stories to read. *g* Maybe I can finish them today...
