Epic Hair and Season Four of Stargate

Last night, after making myself some pasta with cheese, cabbage (fried, and so-so), and some tuna fish (don't even ask), I settled down to be COMPLETELY unproductive. I was so unproductive that I ended up watching Legend of the Seeker vids for quite a bit of the night, in between rounds of bejeweled.

Oh, LotS, with your epic hair and unexpected female friendship and gratuitous cleavage/thighs and pretty, pretty landscapes. *sighs dreamily* No matter how stupid I felt the plot got right at the end of season two, I will never, EVER forget that it did some things so, so right.

I am on the VERY LAST EPISODE of season four of Stargate. Jack not getting all his memos! Jaffa revenge thing! BLOWING UP A SUN.

Is it wrong, though, that I get depressed every time I watch Double Jeopardy? I feel like it's sort of wrong to mourn the robots, but they just get the short end of the stick, and it all happens at once, and they were separate people, damn it.

Double Jeopardy makes me sad too. I don't watch it very often.

Yeah. I think there should have been one more doubles episode, where they get up to wacky hi-jinx, just so I could have some glee to balance it out.

Double Jeopardy makes me sad until I remember the story on the commentary to the episode, regarding the scene where Robot!Daniel's head comes rolling into frame, where apparently RDA was bouncing up and down with eagerness like a little kid, saying "I wanna roll the head! Can I roll the head? I wanna roll the head!" Two of my kids are soooo that kid, so it makes me smile. Even now at 22, nearly 23, and probably at 50-something, I'll bet my son's gonna be begging to roll the head.

But watching the robots go, one by one and alone, that sucks. I tell myself that they say their goodbyes by internal radio, but still...

And of course, with any show, we all know it's all about the hair, don't we?

Okay, maybe not the Saturday Night Live classic sketches about the coneheads. Those are all about the lack of hair, but they are the exception that proves the rule.

Well, being the dutiful oldest child in the family, instead of bouncing up and down eagerly, I'd be sitting patiently, with my hand raised, waiting for someone to call on me so I could ask to roll the head.

C'mon! Who wouldn't want to roll the head?!!!

eldanna totally bribed me into reading Wizard's First Rule by telling me I was correct in my initial assumption of how Darken Rahl was related to Richard Cypher, but in every case except that one, the TV show is SO MUCH BETTER.

Oh, man. I... read the first two books, and then a chapter of the third, and then I threw my hands up in disgust and gave up. TOO LATE, I SAY.

I always feel bad for the robots. It's not their fault they exist and they have all the same feelings and needs as the real SG-1. I can only imagine how crazy robot!Jack must go being stuck on that planet with Harlan, lol.

Every time I watch it I want to write robot!SG-1 fic but never get around to it.

Double Jeopardy is depressing. It always was, but I don't think I've been able to watch it once since I wrote robot fic. :( Poor robots.

Poor robots, indeed. I think that perhaps, if I hadn't read robot fic (especially yours), then I might not think it quite as awful. Of course, now I'm torn between wanting to re-read it and NOT wanting to re-read it for the simple fact that I'd probably end up more depressed after finishing it.

Thankfully, I had breakfast to distract me at least a little from the depressing finality of it today.

Hee! We have caught up to each other. I'm on the last ep, too. BLOWING UP A SUN, indeed. (I also love Jack and Daniel's reactions when Sam tells them that's the plan. And how Jacob is all, "yep." Totally nonchalant. Because he remembers when she was five and blew up the garage, and in his mind this was inevitable.)

Double Jeopardy is so sad. The robots didn't ask for any of that, but they did their best and they didn't deserve to all die like that.

Yes indeed, Double Jeopardy is heartbreaking. I take some consolation that Sam managed to work out a way to get them off-planet for at least a day at a time, and they had a few years of happy SG-1-ing before the end.

ISoP is my consolation, I guess. Not that I've ever written anything even close to that length since, heh.

Yeah, I am glad that they didn't end up stuck forever. I also wonder, though, what Harlan is going to do now that they're gone. :-(
