Guys! I haven't done a meme in a while. Want to help me play?

Give me a pairing that I have never written, and I will give you at least 100 words about them, either meta or fic. If I don't know the pairing in question, I'll make something up or give you another shot.

Note: If you're not sure which pairings I have written, don't feel like you have to devote your afternoon toward research--unless it's Sam/Jack. Because really.

I can't even believe how much posting this is stressing me out. Hello, Trout! It's a MEME.

Because I feel cracky: GLaDOS and the Bird.

(I could give you a real pairing. But that requires more brainpower right now than I might have.)

Your profile lists Pride and Prejudice as an interest. I don't know if you've read Austin's other works, but if you like Persuasion, how about some Anne/Wentworth?

If you're not a Persuasion fan, Darcy/Elizabeth? Or have you written them before?

You say S/J, but my first reaction was Wah! I can't request Tony/Pepper! because, y'know, the awesomeness that is Friday Night. And then I went and re-read Friday Night .. and got (delightfully) hot and bothered at, oh, 5:30 am. I love that little fic so much. :^D

Anyway. Something to request (if you won't take pity on me and just write T/P -g-). How about .. Hailey/Grogan? (And okay, now I need to go watch Foothold again. Online watch party, anyone? I miss chat!

oh no stress, honey! Just fun!

Ok, I will toss out one you may never have heard of and one more commonly known in our circles. That way, you can skip that first one if you need to LOL

Harry Dresden/VI Warshawski

or

Daniel Jackson/Dana Scully do I really need to list the fandoms? :P

oh oh oh! I love it! Thanks so much :)

(VI is Victoria, a private detective in Chicago. Great book series, if you ever need a mystery-type read)

Oooh, meme! Fun. How about Sam/Caldwell. Or Sam/Kawalsky? Or hey, Jack/Vala. (OMG I cannot make decisions! You pick.)

Oh, man. This meme was a GREAT IDEA. (I have totally written Jack/Vala (http://holdouttrout.livejournal.com/tag/jack%2Fvala), by the way, but the only reason you're not getting more is because Sam/Caldwell struck my fancy.
____

It wasn't until after Sam returned to Earth--and wasn't that one of the most humiliating moments of her life--that she and Steven became friends.

Oh, they had been friendly colleagues, true, but it wasn't quite the same thing. By the time Steven had shown up again, she had been assured by several well-meaning people that the "bastards in charge were idiots" (Teal'c had said, "I believe that all here recognize your valuable skills and expertise," in a special tone that implied he'd happily kill anyone who didn't, which was sweet, really.) She was even starting to believe it, and to look forward to the next challenge, which was starting to look like maybe, just maybe, the newest ship.

Sam had her fingers crossed.

In any case, Steven showed up, they ended up in the commissary together, and before she knew it they were having dinner off-base, at a real restaurant.

There was something surreal about the whole thing, but every time she tried to pin it down she decided that she didn't really want to over-analyze this thing, and she was having a really good time, anyway.

At the end of dinner--a much longer dinner than any Sam had had in the recent past--Steven walked her to her car and smiled.

"This was fun," Sam said, meaning it.

"Next time I'm... around," Steven said, using the standard SGC euphemism for 'on the planet,' "we should do this again."

Sam smiled--grinned, really--, and, oh, yeah, that definitely got a reaction. "It's a date."

She hopped into her car and took off without too many glances in her mirrors. She really hoped he knew she meant it.

She might even wear a dress.

Hooray! This is great, thank you so much! :) I've been trying to get someone to write me Sam/Caldwell for ages - they had lovely screen chemistry in SGA. You should feel free to write it more if the fancy strikes. *nods*

have totally written Jack/Vala

Ooh! I shall definitely have to go take a look.

I have written Han/Leia (http://holdouttrout.livejournal.com/tag/han%2Fleia). There isn't much there, but I have more here (https://sites.google.com/site/holdouttrout/starwars). *crosses her fingers that site actually still works* I am in process of loading everything to AO3, but don't think I've managed all the SW yet.
____

Rodney looked at the dessert case in confusion. What was he doing here? He had gotten up from the table—where he had been winning the discussion, damn it, so it wasn't the “strategic retreat” Sheppard insinuated it had been. Anyway, he'd risen from his chair, intent on getting a new cup of coffee, and Colonel Carter—who was entirely wrong about—wait, that wasn't important right now.

His mind still wandered down the well-worn path of how wrong Colonel Carter was for a millisecond or two before he managed to wrest it to the dilemma at hand.

All she'd said was “Get me some jello, McKay.” Seemed simple enough, but he was faced with an impossible choice, and he had the feeling it was important—something about the smirks her team had thrown around when she mentioned the jello.

Blue, or red?

The worst part was that he felt like he should know the answer. Oh, this was ridiculous. It wasn't like picking the right color was going to increase his chances, after all.

His choice made, he swung back to the table and placed the dish in front of Sam, holding his breath just a little, maybe.

Sam looked up, and McKay was gratified by the surprise in her eyes as she saw the blue jello.

“Thanks,” was all she said before digging in, but McKay did not fail to notice Sheppard handing a folded-up bill to Teal'c. McKay rolled his eyes. The man still had no faith in him.

How about Jack/Janet?

I SWEAR I hadn't forgotten about you. I think that the Olympics stole my brain for a while, but tonight I took a look at the last two prompts and thought, “Oh, I know what to do about those now.” YAY.
_____

They went, almost without discussion, to his place. Janet liked him to control what they did when they were together, but she liked having the control over how long they were together. Jack remembered that from before, just like he remembered what her expressions meant, both in and out of the bedroom.

He liked some of the bedroom ones a hell of a lot.

Tonight, though, wasn't really about the sex. It had been a grueling day for both of them, one of the times when the front lines got a little blurry. It was nice to have someone around who knew everything without being told, who wouldn't push, who could just... be there.

She stayed, tonight, and he held her, resting and letting her rest.
