There's a part of Sunday's experience that I'm not going to talk about until Friday. Sorry. I have a surprise for a friend I'd like to *keep* a surprise. That's why there's a suspicious void around the late afternoon that some of you already know about. Please do not mention it in comments.

Sunday, I woke up with a headache--probably from dehydration. It wasn't pleasant, but a few hundred ounces of water and three ibuprofen later, it was manageable. So most of us set off to the Stargate track room to see Alexis Cruz talk about the movie.

Sadly, he was late (he actually didn't show, from what we heard), and we left about 30 minutes into the time there. Cruz really had impressed us all with his ability to answer questions seriously and with great impact, so we were all looking forward to it. It was slightly disappointing.

I thought about doing some other things, but mostly I just was tired and there were practically no stores open except for in the mall, which was too crowded for me. So I decided I'd wait in line for the Star Trek panel instead. That was a hilarious panel. Brent Spiner (yay!), Gates McFadden, and Jonathan Frakes answered exactly none of the questions posed to them, but they did it in such an entertaining way that I hope not many people were too disappointed or put out by it. I mean, come on, people--they've been doing this for approximately 20 YEARS. It gets old after a while, I'm sure.

Side note: I watched TNG as a kid, and I never realized until I was older just how gorgeous Gates McFadden was. She's...absolutely stunning in person. Just...really. Stunning.

Next was the Stargate panel of DOOM, in which ponies were mentioned, actors acted stranger than normal, and hardly any fans asked questions. Long story short, this panel sucked. It was, without a doubt, the only one I would rather have not gone to at all, and the only one I didn't enjoy in some manner. I think it was frustrating for everyone involved. I refuse to dwell on it any more.

The last panel I went to on Sunday was for Battlestar Galactica, whose panelists I thought were entertaining, sober (a plus after the Stargate panel), insightful, well-spoken, and generally interesting. And, you know, Richard Hatch (Apollo in the old series, and Tom Zarek in the new one) made out with Jamie Bamber. I mean--that was worth a whole heck of a lot, right there.

After that panel, I did some undefined stuff (more to come here, later), and then met up with everyone in the Mariott. We then got food and headed up to one of the hotel rooms to watch fan vids. There were some really awesome ones.

Oh, and if anyone can point me to/send me the Janet one? That one's just rip-your-heart-out lovely.

And then, against my bad judgement, we were responsible and went back to our own hotel rooms for sleep.

Still to come: Dragon*Con Day 4: The Redemption of Stargate, Autographs, and Celebrity Airport Sightings.

Hellowhat! I went to a different BSG panel, so clearly missed something.

It disappointed me that the SG guys were drunk, and that the person who asked about killing Carter didn't get smacked by anyone, and that the organizers didn't JUMP ON IT when Chris Judge said they would stay and answer more questions, but... well, I still enjoyed it. I guess I'm just that ridiculously undiscriminating in my fangirlishness, you know? :-)

They had MULTIPLE panels for the same shows?

ZOMGosh! At Comic-Con we get one Stargate SG-1 panel, one 'lantis panel and one BSG panel. And half of those are taken up by moderator-generated questions, so maybe a half-dozen fans get to ask questions.

Yeah--multiple panels FTW. But SG1 and SGA were together, so...

*shrugs*

The moderator questions were just...not as spontaneous, and it showed.

Yup. I think almost all the big guest panels were repeated. The fan panels only happened once, I think, but the celeb panels I went to each repeated once for all four days.

Wow! ShoreLeave does that. The 3 main guests each do a panel each day. The lesser ones - some do one panel by themselves and then one in combination with another actor. Like Colin Cunningham and Gary Jones did a panel together on Sunday. And last year, Carmen Argenziano did a panel with Corin Nemec. But among the actors there aren't really any "group" panels.

Honestly, I liked the smaller panels better. One group one would probably have been enough.

Yes--the BSG panel was made of awesome.

I thouroughly enjoyed all the panels except for Sunday's. I was just killed by that particular one. I just...wanted to crawl under a rock and maybe smash my head upon it for good measure. But BSG was right after, so...that was v. good.

Ohhh! Well, okay. I don't know why that didn't register. Yes, the one I went to was Saturday, I think. Sunday, I was at the Adult Swim panel.

I've heard so many people say the Stargate panel wasn't very good. That's really a shame, especially since Michael Shanks in person should never be anything but awesome. *g*

Michael Shanks in person should never be anything but awesome.

Oh, he was. ;-)

And I thought that the other three SG panels were great--ranging from good to super.

There were three stargate panels (okay, 4, but the first one was tiny). Of those three, the first was pretty good, the second crawl-under-a-rock-inducing, the third excellent.

MS wasn't un-awesome. Honestly, most of the problems of the second panel were due to the moderator and the one crazy Altoids fan.

Well this makes me glad I didn't both with the SG panel Sunday. Not that the Torchwood panel I went to before joining ppl in line for the BSG panel was much better, but it was different.

Richard making out with Jamie was almost as good as the footsies comments from Friday.

Aaron entertaining himself and Jamie during the Trek panel. Paraphrasing...

A: We're better cause we have a gorgeous cast *points at Jamie*
J: But I'd kill to be as butch as Aaron.
A: Well, you have 3 (some amount of time) to stop playing footsies with me.
J: Why do you think I wore flip flops?

It went on a bit longer from there and got call backs Sat morning, but that was the main bit.

Oooooh. Yay. I love it when actors flirt with each other. It's awesome.

It was sooo funny to watch. I keep checking to see if anyone's posted it on youtube but it doesn't seem to have appeared yet.

Aw *is disappointed* That sucks that one of the panels, well, sucked. I am sad because Stargate should rock hard always.

Just who is this infamous moderator anyway?

I think her name is Marcia Patterson. I'm pretty sure on the first name, and not so much on the last name.

And Stargate itself does rock hard. It was the fen you had to worry about.
