First of all, thank you to everyone who submitted prompts--yes, this is very fast turnaround, but I wanted to give people time before Christmas day to start writing.

Now that we have prompts, and they've been more or less organized (and wow to people who have done this before, and with more prompts), it's time to write!

You have a couple of different options:

1) Write comment fic and post it here.
2) Write longer fic and post a link to it here.

You should, in the subject line, indicate your pairing, prompt, and rating, like so: "Jack/Sara, technology, R."

There were a lot of single-character prompts, or prompts where there were a few characters specified, but without it being a pairing--these I'm assuming are open to any and all pairings, unless otherwise stated. I'm also assuming that any and all pairing prompts could be friendship fic instead. The muse goeth where it willeth, after all, and you never know when your smut scene is going to turn into a gen adventure fic that involves research of mythology and biology. /grumping

I'll hold this post open until New Year's Day.

You can direct questions to me here, so this post can be all sorts of fic goodness.

Onto the prompts!

Teal'c and Jonas: Yule log

*is first, score*

"It's a tradition," Jonas is explaining, as he and Teal'c trek through the underbrush of P3X-867. He's waving his hands, using them to sketch pictures in the air, as though conjuring some mystical force that will make Teal'c understand him.

Teal'c, for his part, is listening. It's one of the things he does well, along with sleeping during briefings, though Jonas is the only one who's ever noticed that. He understands Jonas' enthusiasm for discovering Tau'ri rituals and traditions. He once had the same sense of wonder, as he walked through the new culture which wanted to assimilate him. Of course, Teal'c has since learned the truth: you can attempt, but you can never achieve true assimilation. Not without destroying that which makes one unique.

And Teal'c has always been certain he is unique. Just as Jonas is unique, just as Sam Carter, Jack O'Neill, and Daniel Jackson are unique. Even if some of them are occasionally dead.

"This looks perfect!" Jonas claps a hand and gestures at the large quasi-fir tree towering over them.

"Should the wood not be dried and seasoned over the course of several years, Jonas Quinn?" Green wood burned less well than dried, and he rather doubts O'Neill wants to advertise their presence with a deal of smoke.

"Well, in ancient times," begins Jonas, already set on explaining yet another section of the tradition.

Teal'c half-listens to the words, keeping an absent watch of the surrounding woods. It would never do for them to be ambushed, after all. O'Neill would get that little twitch around his lips, and raise his eyebrows, and ask Teal'c if he was 'feeling all right?' in that carefully-not-exactly-sarcastic voice of his. The one he used because he knew Teal'c could kick his ass, if pushed too far.

"--so this should work!" Jonas concludes, still beaming. Then he tilts his head to the side and looks at Teal'c. "Although, I'm sure Colonel O'Neill doesn't want us to bring back a Yule Log."

"I think not, Jonas Quinn," Teal'c agrees, "Perhaps we should merely gather the firewood we require and leave this tradition to another time."

Looking a little deflated, Jonas nods, "You're right, Teal'c. The Colonel probably doesn't care that we're stuck in the middle of nowhere on Christmas. Probably, he doesn't celebrate, anyway."

Teal'c knew this to be incorrect, but it wasn't his place to inform Jonas of this fact. "However," he says, reaching up and pulling the plant down he'd spotted while approaching the tree, "I believe he will be amused with mistletoe."

Brightening again, Jonas takes the sprig of plant and tucks it into a pouch on his vest, "Good plan. And Sam might like it, too."

Not deigning to comment on what Major Carter will or will not enjoy, Teal'c turns and begins gathering the dried and useful wood they will need to start their campfire and keep it burning the night through. If he adds a few more sprigs of mistletoe and a shaft of what smells like cinnamon to the pile, Jonas neither notices or comments. But later that night, sitting watch next to Samantha Carter, he feels pleased when she closes her eyes and breathes in the scents of Christmas that she was complaining of missing far earlier in the day.

Oh, this is a great start to this...thing. (I'm deliberately not calling it a ficathon, because it totally isn't, and because no one's doing those these days).

I love Teal'c stories like this. And Jonas is a great foil in this case--he's observant and intelligent in a very different way from Teal'c, but they do get along well, despite all that.

And the bit with Sam at the end is really comforting and soft and sweet.

Hits such a nice Yuletide mood, in a wistful sort of way -- resonates with loneliness and differentness and the bleakness of being away from home, and soothes that with humor and an underlying teamy warmth. :-)

Aw, this is very sweet -- Teal'c's more contemplative approach to Earth traditions versus Jonas jumping in with both feet is a nice contrast, and Sam's little tag at the end is lovely.

Even if some of them are occasionally dead.

Hee!

And yay Sam and Teal'c doing that for Sam!

Christmas.  In Atlantis.  It's not that Samantha Carter had been home for Christmas in years.  Whatever that meant.  Not since she joined the Air Force and headed off into the Wild Blue Yonder.  No, Samantha Carter, Wanderer of Galaxies, had most assuredly avoided "home" in the holidays of the last two decades.  Even as a cadet, she preferred to make her place with her host family in Colorado Springs over visiting a house (not a home) that was cold and empty after the death of her mother.  After she and her father had made their peace, there still remained little in the way of family celebrations.  Selmak was nice, but ...omnipresent.  She enjoyed Mark and his family, especially her nieces.  But.  Fish and houseguests...

So how was it that she felt so at odds with her surroundings now?  The multi-national force she commanded in the Pegasus Galaxy had creatively decked the halls with enough shiny and bright to make her feel as though she'd become lost in a flock of magpies.  The commissary whipped up cultural holiday delicacies with every meal.  And, dear God, if Radek did not stop playing Elvis' Christmas Album, if she heard Blue Christmas one more time, she was going to lose her mind. But the holiday spirit was just not in her.  "Yes, Samantha Carter, you are Ebenezer Scrooge," she thought.  And so, she dredged up the ghosts of Christmas Past.

She and Mark, trying so desperately to stay awake to catch Santa Claus in the act.  Her parents, watching indulgently as they ripped open their gifts in the morning.  Her beloved host family's twin daughters, racing into "her" room on Christmas morning to wake her up, covering her with sticky stocking candy hands.  That Christmas in the Middle East, where the First Shirt played Santa Claus and gave everyone gifts out of an overstuffed A-3 bag.  An event made all the more surreal by the fact that the Shirt was a she.  And Asian.  And about the same size as the A-3 bag.  Watching the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, knowing she would be headed back to her office in the Pentagon to work more on the calculations that would eventually help crack the Stargate.  Her first Christmas after joining the SGC.  The one where she and the recently-divorced Janet knocked back most of bottle of Limoncello with their Christmas cookies and spent Christmas day regretting that lemons were ever cultivated.  The SGC Holiday parties.  The third year, around the campfire on a distant planet, discussing the "meaning of Christmas" with Teal'c and Daniel as Colonel O'Neill sat quietly to one side and smirked as the conversation led to an detailed analysis of "evolution vs creationism."  The first year Daniel wasn't there.  The Christmas following Janet's... Samantha swallowed hard.

ext_2043: (Default)

She'd been off-world with SG-1 for more than half the Christmas' of the last 10 years.  What was so different now?  Sam shook her head to clear her mind and her lips tightened in a firm line that Daniel would have recognized.  And teased her about.  "Don't be so hard on yourself.  You don't need to be perfect.  Just be yourself."  And suddenly, it all became crystal clear.  The problem.  She looked down at the photographs on her desk and saw her "family."  Here, where they weren't, she was the outsider.  "Weir would have never doubted me," Ronan had said, coldly.  "You're no Elizabeth Weir," being the obvious subtext.

"Colonel Carter, I think you should see this." Ronan stood in her office doorway, as though summoned by her thoughts.  She blinked her beginning-to-tear eyes rapidly.  No weakness here.  Move along.  "What have we got?" she asked, following him down the hall and out onto the Atlantean balcony overlooking the city.  She looked in wonder at the light coating of snow on the railings.  Snow.  Coming from the sky in enormous, soft, white flakes.  She held her hands out to catch them as they drifted down, a smile spreading slowly over her face.  In the perfect muffled silence of snowfall, Ronan's answering smile spoke volumes.

Doors opened and suddenly, there were Terran expats flocking out onto the overlook.  "Bring the tree out here!"  "Do we have an extension so we can light it?"  "Oh, that will be sooo pretty!"  "It's snowing!"  "No kidding, Rodney.  Thought of taking up meteorology?"  A cup of hot cocoa was pressed into her outstretched hand as Jennifer Keller fluttered past her and twirled in the snow, head back, face to the sky.  Sam looked around slowly and then back to Ronan, who was still watching her with a quiet intensity that was somehow familiar to her.  Flashing him a grin, she realized she was now in the midst of the noisy crowd.  Perhaps she was home for the holidays after all.

This turned into something a little too long to easily do in comment boxes, so it's up here.

Jack/Daniel, PG, fireplace

Date: 2007-12-23 01:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] jd-junkie.livejournal.com
Daniel jerked awake to the sound of heavy logs hitting the grate.

He watched as the damp wood hissed and spat, settled into the embers and sent dense smoke in lazy, drifting wisps up the flue and into the alien sky.

He blinked slowly, fighting through the drowsiness. He found himself hypnotized by the shapes and patterns created by the flames. They were oddly comforting.

He shifted a little on the cold floor. His neck ached from the awkward angle created by his head resting on Jack’s backpack. His fingers and toes were cold despite the space blanket. He realized there was extra weight on his legs and he glanced down to find Jack’s jacket spread over him. It hadn’t been there when he’d fallen asleep.

“Hey, you’re awake.” Jack threw one more small log onto the fire and hunkered down next to Daniel, his eyes doing a rapid sit rep.

“Sort of.”

“You okay?”

Daniel licked parched lips. “Thirsty.”

A canteen was produced and Jack raised Daniel’s head slightly with a hand to the back of his neck, allowing him a cool drink that was nowhere near long enough.

Daniel didn’t know what he was more grateful for; the blessedly soothing liquid or the relief in his neck. He was even more relieved when Jack left his hand there and gently shifted half underneath him, pulling Daniel to his chest and wrapping strong, capable arms around him.

“You cold?”

“Yeah. Fire’s nice though.”

Jack rubbed Daniel’s arms vigorously, trying to banish the chill. Getting rid of the cold in Daniel’s bones was one thing; the iciness that gripped his heart and guts was quite another.

“They’ll be back soon. Carter will have fixed the gate and Fraiser will be here with those giant needles before you know it.”

“Yeah. So much to look forward to.”

They fell into silence.

“You eaten?” Daniel wondered why his words were coming so slowly.

“Not hungry.”

“Gotta eat.”

“I checked the MREs. Christmas dinner in a vacuum-sealed pack. I’ll pass.”

Daniel smiled to himself. “Probably tastes like chicken,” he said, shocked at his slurred speech. He was pleased to hear a huffed laugh from behind him and winced a little at the accompanying movement.

Daniel allowed his gaze to fall on the fire again.

“It’s a beautiful fireplace. Workmanship. Beautiful.”
“Yeah.”

“There’s a sleigh. And reindeer.” Daniel coughed. Jack held him tighter.

“You hallucinating on me?”

“No. There. In the flames.” He coughed again.

“Nah. It’s a lakeside cabin. Proper log fire. Candles. Sheepskin rug.”

“Sounds nice.”

“Just hold on. Okay? Be home soon.” Jack dropped a light kiss on Daniel’s head.

“Already am,” Daniel whispered.

Jack held him, closed his eyes and strained to hear the sounds that meant rescue.

Sam/Jack, snowbound, PG

Date: 2007-12-23 04:48 pm (UTC)From: [personal profile] nandamai
nandamai: (bumble)
"Tannenbaum"

It was Christmas Eve, according to Jack.

It was really the end of February. But Jack had insisted on celebrating Christmas during Sam's next leave, no matter how many times she'd told him that the small celebration on Atlantis had been sufficient. So they were at the cabin, with the tackiest Christmas tree Sam had ever seen, and Sam was willing to play along.

Part of Jack's plan had already gone awry. With storms blanketing the Rockies and the upper Midwest for the past two days, their friends were stuck in Colorado and Cassie's flight to Minneapolis had been canceled. Sam missed Cassie -- she'd seen the others when she'd arrived on Earth four days ago -- but more time alone with Jack was never a bad thing.

Tonight they were playing chess by the fire, each of them wrapped in a blanket because he habitually kept the thermostat at 60. Two half-full, now cold mugs of hot chocolate sat next to the chessboard, and a DVD of A Christmas Story was on the TV as background music. In the corner, the multicolored tree lights blinked at irregular intervals that would have driven Sam crazy in her own house.

"Wind's dying down," Jack said.

Sam looked up from the board and squinted into the darkness of the closest window. It was no longer being pummeled by snow. "Huh," she said, and went back to contemplating her move.

Jack stood and walked to the window, cupping his hands around his face so he could see out. "The snow's stopped, too."

At that moment, the electricity went out.

"Oh, I should have seen that coming," Jack said.

Sam laughed in the dark. She heard Jack shuffle to the door and tug on his boots. He kept an emergency generator around the side of the house, and they needed it frequently during the winter.

"Be right back," he said. Cold air burst in as he shut the door behind him.

She found the door and her boots by touch. She was already wearing a wool sweater and socks, long johns and jeans, so she didn't reach for her parka but kept the blanket instead.

The snow was powdery and as high as her knees, and the sky was clearing. She could see a few stars.

The generator roared to life. Seconds later Jack came to stand behind her on the deck, wrapping one arm around her waist. With the other he pointed into the sky, towards Atlantis.

"That way, right?"

Sam smiled. She leaned back into his chest; he wrapped his gloved hands around her bare ones.

"Yes, but I wasn't looking there," she said. "I was looking at the trees."

They were little more than dark shapes, across the pond. When she and Jack had hiked into the woods on his property to chop down a tree, Sam had touched the trees as she walked. She'd rubbed the bark with her fingers and inhaled the scent of evergreens.

As silly as she'd thought Jack's Christmas in February was, it was a rare gift, these days, to smell pine in her sleep.

Now she breathed in the bitter air and the smell of snow. She squeezed his fingers. "It's getting late," she said. "We should go to bed. Save some fuel."

Jack chuckled by her ear. "Subtle," he said.

"Don't ruin the moment," she said.

He chuckled again as they went inside to stamp off the snow.

Oh, yay. I love the scent of the pine trees being the thing she likes about it, and the idea that Jack would arbitrarily decide on a Christmas date for Sam...funny and perfect.

The last planet they'd been on had been snowy and icy and had a nasty wind which made their 2 mile run to the 'gate with some sort of weird dinosaur-things on their heels even more unpleasant and by the time they'd made it through the 'gate Colonel O'Neill's entire foot had been purple from where one had nipped at his toe before Sam had realized they might actually be dangerous after all. So he was back at home with his foot propped up on the coffee table and hopefully a bag of frozen peas keeping the swelling down (though Sam figured he'd kicked it off by now) and only one beer within reach because alcohol shouldn't mix with the drugs Janet had him on and she and Daniel were left trudging through the snow looking for a tree.

"Couldn't we have have just bought one in the parking lot back there?" Daniel asked, pulling his snow-covered hat further down over his ears.

"Nope. That's cheating," Sam told him, eyeing the forest for a tree that looked nice and was small enough to fit on her car. "The colonel always gets a real tree and he's going to have one this year too."

"I still can't believe you dragged me out into this weather to cut down a plant," Daniel moaned, kicking at the snowdrifts with his boots. "Just so you could follow the pagan traditions Christianity stole and keep the corpse in Jack's living room."

Sam shook her head and smiled to herself. For all his complaining, she knew Daniel understood the importance of tradition. He just seemed to get cranky in cold weather. "You know, it could be worse," she commented, letting him get ahead of her before reaching down to grab some of the snow at her feet. "We could be carrying all our gear and running into a nasty headwind with dinosaurs trying to eat us."

"What about this one?" he asked, standing in front of a small fir that barely reached his shoulder, but was nicely shaped. "Jack should be able to...ack!" he screamed, batting wildly behind him as Sam stuffed the handful of snow down the back of his collar.

By the time he turned Sam was already running, but not really trying to get away. He came at her with double handfuls and she managed to dodge him twice before he gave up on going for her collar and just tackled her to the ground. She rolled, taking him with her until the came up sharp against the base of a tree. Sam was on her back, breathing had and laughing, with Daniel splayed out on top of her, hands no longer full of snow, but when he shook his head a large clump fell off his hat onto her forehead.

She craned her neck, trying to see something she'd caught a glimpse of in the tree above him - shiny green leaves and sticky white berries and she couldn't help grinning.

"What?" he asked, looking wary.

"Look up," she told him, angling her head slightly and grimacing as she felt the snow beneath her begin the melt. She tried to wiggle away, but he just lay more heavily on top of her.

His head tilted up and when he looked back down there was a shy smile on his lips and the way he whispered, "oh" made her heart beat so hard she was sure he could feel it too. He bowed his head slowly and Sam closed her eyes, wishing she'd brought lip balm because she knew she must be chapped and she felt his weight shifting, just a little, and then his breath - the Altoids he raided from his car over the bitter aroma of coffee - caressed her check just slightly.

And then his lips ghosted in for the tiniest kiss, just on the tip of her nose and she blinked in surprise to see him smiling and snowflakes melting on his glasses as he sat back up on his heels and stood, reaching out a hand to help her. "C'mon, let's get Jack a tree before he gives up and hobbles out to get one himself."

Oh. That's adorable. Nice take on the mistletoe cliche, with the snow fight and nobody there to watch.

Sam/Daniel - "A quiet holiday in Egypt"

Date: 2007-12-24 03:59 am (UTC)From: [personal profile] zorb
zorb: (SG-hot)
"Attention, all passengers on Flight 2487 to Cairo. Departure time has been pushed further back..."

Daniel echoed the groans of the rest of the boarding area with a sigh and resisted checking his watch for the umpteenth time. He glanced over at Sam, curled up in the plastic chair next to him. "I don't need to comment on the irony, do I?"

"Uh-uh," she mumbled from within her fleece jacket.

"You don't suppose we could call..."

"Already thought of it, and no. They're - " she looked around the terminal crowded with weary, dull-eyed travelers - "out of town."

"Right."

Daniel resisted the urge to sigh again, stuffing his hands deeper in his pockets. It would figure that their first real getaway in a long time would get off to a rough start. Jack, of course, would say they'd gotten exactly what they wanted - a perfectly ordinary vacation experience.

He looked back at Sam, whose eyelids were losing the battle. She looked tired, but less bone-weary than when she'd stepped through the gate the day before. He'd thought, then, that maybe she'd prefer to stay close to the Springs and just do nothing for three weeks, but when her first words to him following the enthusiastic hug were, "Take me someplace warm," all panicked thoughts of how he'd get back the ticket money vanished.

Mitchell hadn't understood. "Egypt," he said, when Daniel offered to chaperone the whole team. "Jackson, you know that's not exactly a substitute for Maui, right?"

Daniel just shrugged.

Vala had found Cameron's ski trip plans much more interesting, having spent more than enough time on desert planets as Qetesh, Teal'c , as usual, intended to visit his son, and inviting anyone after that would have made for, as Mitchell put it, "serious style-cramping."

That, at least, he could agree with. He looked again at the blonde head bobbing next to him, still fighting. He smiled and reached across to gently push it down to his shoulder, letting his hand drift down once it was settled to smooth over her loose ponytail.

He remembered when she'd decided to let it grow; back from a bizarre trip that only Teal'c remembered, not yet thinking about Atlantis, or anything but going straight home and washing away the end of the Asgard. He'd found her in the bathroom, standing naked in front of the mirror. "Do you think I should let it grow out?" she asked without preamble. One hand was fingering a close-cut lock, the other resting on the counter.

He moved in behind her and let his hands settle on her hips. "Do you want to?"

"Maybe. I don't know, I feel like it's time for a change." Her eyes me his in the mirror. "You know?"

He shrugged. "Pretty happy where I am, actually." He tickled her belly lightly, prompting a jerk back into him and a smile.

"Can't keep up with me, can you," she teased.

"What, you think I should get contacts?"

She turned in his arms. "Nah. I kind of like this part." She reached up to gently remove his glasses, place them on the counter behind her, and wrap her arms around his neck...

A toddler's shriek brought him out of the memory and made Sam's head jerk up, startled. Daniel shifted to wrap his arm around her shoulders, gathering her back in to him. Strains of a hackneyed carol reached his ears through the din. "Maybe we should take 'opportunity for travel' out of the recruiting blurb."

Her answering smile was somewhat less sleepy. "Wouldn't feel the same without a little drama."

He brushed errant strands of hair behind her ear. "Thought you were looking for change."

"Mmm, I've thought about it."

"And?"

"I decided that change is all right," she said, slipping her arms around his waist, "as long as you're there when I come home."

Sam closed her eyes and snuggled into his side. The PA announced someone's gate change; the family seated across from them broke into yet another argument; the music turned into something high-pitched and peppy.

Daniel dropped a kiss on her forehead. She already knew he agreed.

Cam/Daniel: too much eggnog, PG-13

Date: 2007-12-24 04:45 am (UTC)From: [personal profile] sid
sid: (Cam/Daniel)
Daniel cracked one eye open warily. “Oh.” He mashed his face back into the pillow. “Why did I drink so much eggnog?”

“Too much eggnog explains the headache,” commented a hoarse voice from the other side of the bed. “But I’ve got another question.”

Daniel opened both eyes and rolled over, groaning involuntarily. He peered at Cam myopically. “You don’t remember last night?” he asked, dreading the answer.

“Hell, yes, I remember last night. A few of the details might be a little foggy, but I’m not about to forget.”

The two men exchanged a look that left Daniel feeling warm down to his toes, but Cam didn’t touch him and looked away, back up towards the ceiling, frowning.

“So, um, what’s the… is there a problem?”

“Yeah.” Cam pointed up. “How did that get there?”

Daniel squinted.

“Oh, glasses,” Cam said, retrieving them from the nightstand and passing them to Daniel.

Daniel put them on and looked up with no idea of what he was going to see. He stared. “Mistletoe?”

“Mistletoe,” Cam confirmed grimly.

“And obviously you didn’t put it there.”

“I did not.”

“So that leaves….”

“Sam, Teal’c and Vala.”

They exchanged a look. “Vala,” they agreed.

“So,” Daniel said slowly, “she snuck in here sometime during the party and hung mistletoe over your bed.”

“And as scary as that prospect is, with the whole question hangin’ in the air of what the hell she might have been planning, and I do not want to contemplate that with a hangover the size of Cheyenne Mountain,” Cam clutched at his head dramatically, “it’s not nearly as scary as the idea that she came back after the party, broke into my apartment, and hung that thing up there….”

“While we were sound asleep.” Daniel felt a stabbing pain behind his left eyeball, and his eyelid began to twitch.

Cam snorted. “Passed out, more like.”

They lay there, contemplating the mistletoe and the parameters of their problem. Cam’s hand found Daniel’s, and they clung to each other.

“Would she do that?” Cam asked plaintively.

“This is Vala we’re talking about,” Daniel reminded him. “Anything’s possible.”

The shrilling of Cam’s telephone made them both yelp, and when he held it up so they could read the caller ID, they both groaned. Cam cleared his throat and pushed the button for speaker phone. “Morning.”

Good morning, darling. Did you boys sleep well? Is Daniel up yet, or is that a rude question?”

“Oh, we’re screwed,” Daniel said faintly.

“Well, I assumed, darling, but I wouldn’t want to pry.”

The telephone shattered quite satisfactorily when Cam hurled it against the wall.

Cam/Daniel, snowmobile, R

Date: 2007-12-28 04:30 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] iamrosalita.livejournal.com
“This is new. I’ve never frozen to death before.”

Cameron really hated it when Daniel talked about death so damned nonchalantly. He might be used to dying, but Cameron had yet to witness one of Daniel’s famous deaths, and he hoped he never did.

“Have I mentioned that I hate snow?”

Whininess he could handle. “Not in the last five minutes.”

“Well, I do. It’s cold. And wet.” Daniel wore at least two sweaters, three pairs of socks, heavy waterproof boots, an Air Force cold weather parka, and a hat. There was no way he could be cold.

“For a guy who laughs in the face of death on a regular basis, you’re kind of a weenie. Besides, I hear freezing is one of the more pleasant ways to go.”

Daniel’s look added to the chill in the air. “Much more pleasant than yours will be when Jack finds out you wrecked his new snowmobile.”

“Not a problem. I’m blaming it on you,” Cameron said cheerfully. It really was a beautiful day. The snow had laid a pristine blanket on the forest floor. Well, pristine except for the snowmobile tracks they were following back to the General’s cabin.

“How exactly is it my fault?”

“You were feeling me up while I was trying to drive.”

Daniel reached out and pulled Cameron to a stop, his whole manner screaming disbelief. “You’re really going to tell Jack, I mean, General O’Neill—and I emphasize ‘General’—that I was giving your dick a squeeze and caused you to plow into a snowbank?”

Well, when he put it that way, it really did sound like an incredibly stupid thing to do. General O’Neill was going to kill him.

“I thought not.”

That smug look. Cameron was going to wipe it off that handsome face. He grabbed Daniel, pushed him against the nearest tree and kissed him for a long, long time. When they came up for air, he gasped, “Want to give my dick another squeeze?”

Daniel laughed. How could he laugh after that kiss? “In this cold? It would fall off.”

“Aw, come on, Daniel, give the condemned man his last wish.”

So Daniel did.

Sam/Jack, candy canes, G

Date: 2007-12-30 04:15 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] holdouttrout.livejournal.com
ext_2131: picture of a fish with lots of green (OTPsmartass)
Jack was looking for Sam. Actually, to be more precise, Jack had looked for Sam in every room on the base she normally frequented and was starting to get worried. He frowned as he passed an airman in the corridor, not even noticing that his scowl was enough to make the poor kid stumble.

No--not worried. Worried would imply that he spent a lot of time thinking about Sam's habits, and he most certainly did not. Not any more than a good commanding officer would, at any rate.

But he'd checked her office, her lab, the commissary, Daniel's office (briefly, and from the door so Daniel wouldn't notice he was there), the gateroom, the storage closet on level 19--hey, it was possible that she had needed paper clips--, and the gym (even though he knew she always worked out earlier in the day), and there weren't many places left.

Well, there were a lot of places left, but nothing likely.

He was deep in thought, passing the infirmary, when Janet said the magic word,

"-- stupid, Sam," she said, and Jack stopped in his tracks.

Well, finally.

He started toward the infirmary again, now trying to remember what his exc--his question was. He'd had a question, somewhere back before level 19.

He slowed down before he reached the door, absolutely not so he could listen to their conversation.

Sam said, "I know, Janet. I didn't even think about it, really--I was calibrating the power input on that new device that SG-5 brought back from their last mission, and, well..."

Janet sighed. "Well, there's nothing I can do for it. You'll just have to let it heal."

Interest piqued, Jack finally poked his head around the door.

"Problem, Carter?" he asked.

Sam started and then looked guilty. "No, sir."

Jack raised his eyebrows, and Sam said, "Just a little bit of a mouth sore, sir."

Janet snorted, and Jack realized that she was trying not to laugh. He gave her his best "I need to know what's up with my officer" look, and she turned abruptly serious.

"I, ah...have to go get ready for another appointment," she said, and fled to her office.

Oops. Maybe he'd overdone the look. Well...might as well put it to good use. He turned it on Sam instead.

"Just what did you do to wind up in the infirmary from a mouth sore, Carter?"

Reluctantly, Sam said, "I stabbed myself with a candy cane, sir."

"You stabbed yourself with a candy cane?" Jack repeated.

He was not going to smile. He wasn't.

He didn't. Not quite.

Sam blushed. And tried to explain. "You know how the end gets sharp when you suck on it--"

Jack was nodding. Oh, this was good. Better than whatever he was going to ask her.

"So you got distracted, and then what?"

Sam closed her eyes. "The gate alarm went off."

"Uh huh."

"And it startled me," Sam added defensively.

Jack was grinning. He couldn't help it. Sam was obviously trying to come up with another rationalization, and failing.

Sam's eyes narrowed. "Just what were you doing outside the infirmary anyway, sir?" she asked suspiciously.

He waved a hand expansively. "I was--looking for you," he said. Honesty was the best--

"Why were you looking for me?"

Uh oh. "I wanted to ask you--" his mind went blank. "--something. But this reason is better," he finished, lamely.

Sam frowned. "Better? But--" and then it dawned on her. "Oh." She flushed again. "Oh."

Jack supposed that reaction was okay. He grinned.

Sam grinned back, then winced. "Ow."

Jack shoved his hands into his pockets. "So where did you stab yourself?"

Sam rolled her eyes. "Just my tongue. It's not even bleeding anymore." She hopped off the bed and they left the infirmary together, heading toward the commissary without another thought.

"Bleeding? Cool."

Jack/Daniel/Vala, Snowbound, PG-13

"Trapped for days at Jack's cabin due to a freak snowstorm and they must help keep each other warm"

SNOWBOUND

Jack woke up the second she entered the room. Daniel merely grunted as she climbed over him. “I beg your pardon?” Jack said as she slithered down under the covers.

“I’m cold,” Vala complained.

“The fire is still going,” Jack answered, gesturing towards the bedroom door she’d left open and the dancing light and shadow patterns cast by the flames.

“Men are warmer.” Vala snuggled a little closer to Jack. “Especially two men.”

“Listen,” Jack began firmly.

“Just let me get warm and I’ll run along like a good little girl, hmm?”

“Why don’t I believe you?” There was just enough light from the next room to show the flash of Vala’s teeth, and then an ice-cold foot was sliding between Jack’s legs. “Yeesh!”

Daniel snorted to semi-wakefulness. “’s wrong?”

“Everything’s just fine, darling,” Vala said, slipping an arm around Jack.

Daniel rolled over. “Oh, tell me this is just a bad dream.”

“Wish I could,” Jack said, and then yelped in outrage as Vala’s hand strayed down over his butt. “Daniel, I’m being fondled here!”

Daniel grabbed Vala and pulled her away from Jack, holding her tightly against his body and pinning her arms. “No fondling the general. That’s my job.”

“And I’m sure you do it beautifully. And you’re not bad at warming a girl up, either.”

Daniel was feeling her hands. “Hey, you really are cold!”

Vala squirmed in his arms. “Not really. Not any more. It’s so lovely and warm in here with you both.”

“Your hands are blocks of ice.”

“So are her feet,” Jack interjected.

“Come on then and help warm me up,” Vala said, and there was none of the usual sex kitten in her tone, just an open, honest need.

There was a still moment. Jack couldn’t see their faces, but they must have been able to see his. The bed shifted as Daniel reached out to pull him closer and Vala gave a pleased murmur as she offered him her lips. As he kissed her, Jack felt for Daniel’s hand and twined their fingers together.

Outside the wind continued to howl and the snow continued to fall, but inside the sanctuary of the cabin the fire blazed brightly.

Aw, this is sweet. Vala tormenting Jack with her cold feet is awesome, and I love this moment: “Come on then and help warm me up,” Vala said, and there was none of the usual sex kitten in her tone, just an open, honest need.

(Thinking about J/D/V always makes me laugh, because the bickering that would ensue would be absurd. In a good way!)

I bet Vala had been standing on the porch a few minutes before this scene took place. ;-)

Man, how silly I feel to have only found this now. *blushes*

But what a post-Christmas pleasure! These two are so cute ... cranky!Daniel, the snow fights, the just-a-teeny-tiny-kiss under the mistletoe....

*grin*! I loved it!
