I hereby freely admit that I do, indeed, LIKE Sam Carter. (The character, not Amanda Tapping. Although, as far as actors go, she's only slightly behind Claudia Black on the List of Female Actors Holdouttrout Loves to the Point of Insanity.)

That being said, hate comms and contests are icky. (the entry linked has been deleted. essentially, it was a bunch of rational people stating that a contest to kill off Sam was kinda a bad idea, for various reasons.)

So while I do, indeed, like Sam Carter, I can understand that people don't like her. Some people have Really Good Reasons for disliking her. Others just don't want their slash dynamic screwed. You can make up your own mind about the linked post.

I adore Sam Carter. she is the military chick I'd have emulated had I watched Stargate when I was active duty. I, for one, can't wait to see her on Atlantis. Of course, I also did not have a meltdown when Browder and my beloved Claudia showed up on SG-1. Thought it was a great change of pace. And I read just about any pairing in well-written fic. And, given the right screen caps, I will happily find something obnoxious to caption them with!! Altho, I will say that the majority of screen caps out there are Jack or Daniel sooooo, if ya got something good, lemmee know *swings hips and solicits not so subtly*

What gets me is that bringing a beloved SG1 character from the dead show onto a newer show is such a HORRIBLE business decision. I mean, people like my mom who LOVE Sam and own every season of SG1 on DVD actually started watching Atlantis last season when the casting rumors came out and will watch S4 just to get their Sam-fix. If people don't love Atlantis on its own, they have no business watching it at all! It would be better for Atlantis to die because their ratings were down than for fans of another 'dom to keep it nice and strong.
